...I wonder... if penance can be earned through the right course of actions... or is that too much to hope for? Not all darkness can be penetrated by the light... or... can it?

[Don't mind him, he's been thinking too much the past few days while being held hostage by moogles.]

[Filtered to Lightning, Laguna, Tifa and Yuna]

[He tries adding Vaan to that filter, but it seems he's not in Gaia, so the filter doesn't take. By now he knows they won't remember. But he hopes if he makes contact... it might be of some use. The irony of him, the loner of the bunch, reaching out like this, doesn't escape him. But after what they just went through in his perspective... he thinks it's important to get in touch. Even more so with the threats looming all over Gaia.]

I doubt I've spoken to any of you before... [Or not much at any rate.] My name is Kain Highwind. You won't remember, but we fought together once, in a place and time far removed from here...

I owe you an apology. More than that, I give you my word that should you ever have need of assistance in battle, I'll join you without hesitation. I swear this as a dragoon of Baron, and a warrior of Cosmos.

[ooc; I know they won't be able to remember until the ones who are upgrading do the upgrade, buuuut Kain has been wanting to at least contact the 012 group. He'll be more cautious about spoilers though!]

[What comes on the screen can only be found in one place on Gaia, the deepest point inside the Iifa Tree on the broad platform now used to view the Farplane. But the focus isn't on the flower field hovering in the distance on the far end of the platform, but rather the sheer expanse and depth beneath the tree proper, and what looks like a coursing, green river of life that shimmers. There is so much of it that it appears to drop into the world forever, filling its core.

Meanwhile, Dah Vis and Hana Kohl are arguing about the nature of the pulsating liquid below.]

I dunno, it looks like myrrh to me.

But that girl said it's a Lifestream.

I still say it looks like myrrh. Look at it!

Go get the chalice.

[The view changes to Dah Vis placing his chalice on the floor of the platform. Unlike most of the chalices scattered around Gaia, this one is completely full. They've not had much else to do in Gaia but travel and swindle and get some myrrh at their own leisure. The chalice wobbles, then the crystal on top breaks out into a blinding glow. Streaks of light shoot out from the top of it,  and then arc directly into the Lifestream below, as the chalice empties.]

Well I'll be...

Now what do we do?

((ooc: Again, plot relevant post. Threadjacks and talking amongst yourselves is highly encouraged. Especially for the VII and IX crews with the talk of Great Crystals and Meteor.))

[All the screen will show is a child's hand wrapped around the screen. She'd meant to just bring the phone to one of her foster parents when it rang but pushed a few extra buttons. Eventually she moves her hand enough to show who's the victims of the mishap. Raine and Laguna, who is holding a rather adorable piglet in his hands.]

Laguna, what is that? [Sternface forever.]

This guy? [Laughs.] Come on, Raine, you know what a pig looks like!

I know it's a pig. Why is it here? [Not winning points here honey.]

Because... he needed a home? [Hopeful smile.] He seemed so lonely, and I thought, you know... we've got the room, and he could hang out with Ward.

[Arms fold over her chest.] No. Take it back where you got it from. We have enough living creatures to take care of around here already. Starting with you.

But we have a farmhouse! Isn't having animals part of the fun? You won't have to do anything for him, I'll take care of him, like all the others. Wait -- what do you mean, starting with me? I'm not a creature!

We have enough mouths to feed around here without you bringing home a new animal every time I blink. [Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh... oh wait, child standing there with phone.] Slai, what is it honey? Did you need something?

But the goat eats garbage, it's economical-- hey, Slai. Is that my phone? ... hey, nevermind, what do you think about having a pet pig, huh?

The goat eats my garden! You promised you'd get it under control! And don't change the subject! We're not keeping the pig.

I built him a fence! It just... needs to be taller. I didn't realize he could jump that high...

[Slai finally interjects softly:] Can I keep the piggie?

[It's a short text, the sender's number and information surpressed.]

For those of you who are of the acquaintance of Captain Basch fon Ronsenburg, this is simply a missive to inform you that his birthday is the seventeenth of this month. He would likely not mention it himself, but I know he would be touched if those who know him took the time time to give him their appreciation. That is all.

[The text is done, but the line still seems open in the event anyone desires to discuss something pertaining to to topic. Possibly gift ideas or any such musings.]

[There's two sets of messages today after Tidus finally gets home. The first is a set of text messages to the girls who agreed to participate in the "Get Firion a Date" scheme - Cissnei, Ellone, Frimelda, Hana Kohl, and Quistis - once again from the anonymous number. The tone is not much like the last message that went out under that number, though.]

Hi. Since the Mist Continent kind of... got trashed, we're holding back on the date, okay? We'll let you know when we're going to be doing it, and if you're still interested, then we'll set it up. If you're not, or you're busy or something, that's cool. Thanks, just wanted to let you know.

[The second is two phone calls, one right after the other. The first is to Eiko, with a very important question. The second is to Marlene, with another very important question. He's making sure he's hiding away from Yuna so she can't hear him, too, but later he can be found out and around Luca, helping with the clean up.]

[If Palom was uncharacteristically frantic about his sister's disappearance, Porom is uncharacteristically un-frantic.

And uncharacteristically un-anything, for that matter. Her tone is one usually reserved for reciting from history books.]

To those who had business with Palom of Mysidia, I apologize. He is no longer on Gaia.

Leonora, if you wish to continue your studies I will oversee for now, though I can only teach theory for- fairly obvious reasons. I'll make efforts to find a replacement as soon as possible.

...again, I apologize.

[And then the call cuts off very, very suddenly, the very second she's done talking.]

[If it would affect replies, she isn't going to be responding to anyone not named Leonora, Rosa or Ursula (if she was here, derp) for about 4-5 hours ICly. IT'S FOR THE BEST, YOU WOULD HAVE YOUR DEFENCE HALVED.]

[It's been a hectic few days, holding off the worst of the monsters. Even more hectic when Tifa returned home to find the house empty. It only took a quick phone call to learn that the children had run off into the battle and then sought refuge at Tidus and Yuna's house. This Tifa didn't mind; they were safe there. No, her problem was with how they had got there.

So she promptly grounded Marlene (and Denzel by proxy, since she asked him to stay with her), but it's only today that she's found the time to invite Onion Knight over and sit them all down to get the full story.]

I don't want to point any fingers. But I want you all to tell me, honestly, what happened. No leaving anything out, okay?

[Rishfee finally makes it to Lindblum exactly as planned; a few days after the conversation he'd held with Vincent and making himself known to the living world once more. He carries a thick leather sack upon one shoulder; the rest of Nashmau's real exports safely hidden within the Mire amidst the fake exports of silks, perfumes, and tapestries planned for trade with Alexandria.

...It simply wouldn't do to lead a chocobo through Walahra-knew what was happening loaded to the brim with explosives, after all. He stares throughout the uncharacteristic gloom surrounding the besieged capital, and awaits the elder patiently. Some part of him knew that the other would know he was close, whichever form he chose to take. Vincent, after all, was not one to not keep a keen watch on his surroundings at all times.

[He had been weighing his decision on this since he had gotten back to Narshe. His conversation with Balthier and Noah had made him look at things a bit differently, and with the state Gaia was in now, there was no time like the present.

So. Ring ring, Lightning. Answer before he chickens out.]
