That's it... why hadn't I thought of it sooner?

[The view changes from the myrrh tree in Dollet where she had been staying to her.]

It's quite simple, really. The reason why we keep getting shifted back and forth between the worlds is us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've gathered, the Iifa Tree filters out the souls that have returned to Gaia, correct? The reason everyone keeps returning is that we're not a part of Gaia. We're just visitors. We're not native to her.

The same thing happened on my planet. The phantoms came, and the only way we could remove them from hurting the planet's spirit was to turn them native. That's what we have to do. We have to somehow trick Gaia into thinking that we're native to her, thusly ending the cycle, because there wouldn't be anything to switch.

[She sighs.] But I haven't thought of a way to do such yet...

[Minwu awakes, yet again, within Matoya's cave. However, some things have changed since he last entered. Namely, a giant tree. He gathers himself and gets to his feet, pausing and looking down at said feet. He isn't in the habit of wearing shoes, so the faint sound of duckbills scraping floor gives him some need for consideration.

...Odd.

He cannot remember quite where he has been. Nor can he remember where what he's wearing comes from; the only familiar thing being red and white, the colours of the white mage. He does not give his attire much attention, and makes his way through the cave, the faint sound of broomsticks sweeping so familiar, by now. Besides. His gaze is already fixed upon the tree.

...Matoya?

[The video clicks on to show Burmecia...or what's left of Burmecia, at least, from above. A tiny island with rubble from the now-destroyed palace, with the myrrh tree standing in the center. The rest is water, the occasional bit of something poking out from the surface of the ocean. There's nothing much, except the tree. Even the ground itself is gone, and the mountains, flooded over by the ocean. There are still some monsters about, swimming through the water or lumbering around on the banks. The camera pans here and there, and there's a sound in the background of an airship engine. ]

[After a minute or so of looking around, the camera twists around to show Rikku, standing on the edge of her airship. She looks...subdued. As much as she is capable, anyway. She's looking past the camera, out at the ruins, and then she turns back to the phone.]

I thought everyone should see.

[She pauses, opens her mouth to say something else, and then frowns and clicks the phone off.]

[Ever since the Lunar Cry, Garnet has been very busy. It actually came as quite a surprise to her, the number of people who had come to Alexandria, and to the palace in particular. While in a way, she was thankful to see so many of these people, it was all so trying. At that particular moment, most of the important tasks handled for the day, she quietly walked the halls of the palace, looking for Eiko. She was still around... somewhere.]

[The guardian sits pensive, reviewing mentally of the attacks that have laid siege to Gaia. He has a sword, a very sharp one, that has been a little out of use. He cannot sit idly and watch everyone suffer. He could go wherever he wished for many cities had been destroyed, but surely there must be one or two that are still being heavily affected by the aftermath.]

Are there places that are still overrun with fiends?

[As promised to Rydia, Rinoa has piloted the Garden over to Burmecia. They've been picking up refugees along the way - mostly rats, those who fled the city in time, all of them now tragically homeless. It's one of the saddest things she's ever seen.

Now they've reached the Burmecian coast. Rinoa stops on the shore and scans the sea from her vantage point on the bridge. Somewhere out there is the island Rydia was trapped on.

She heads for the gate. She knows they have to be careful, because this part of the Mist Continent is literally crawling with monsters, and Garden's already on high alert. They can't open the entrance for long.

She calls Rydia.]

Rydia? We're here!

[He's holding the phone oddly, like he's not realized it's recording video instead of just sound right now. The picture is one finger across the lens and an interesting selection of monsters. Really, the filter is more than he thought he'd be able to manage. But if he has 'you won't get into trouble' to bribe Marlene and Denzel with, maybe they might be more likely to stay where it's safe.]

Yuna, are you there? I- have a favour to ask.
Please don't tell Tifa

[Responses may also be coming from Marlene and Denzel if they decide to butt in.]

W-woaaaah.

[He might be using the phone but he certainly isn't paying attention to it right now. What used to be Burmecia stretches out before him and for a while he just stares at it. And then starts yelling.]

Old man! Hey, old man! Ya hear me? What'd you even do?! I wander off for five minutes and you make this much of a mess of the place?!

-...old man?
