dualcast: (And I believe in all that lives)

[Anyone could be forgiven for thinking there wasn't a forest full of the birds at the base of Mount Ordeals with how Porom's been jumping at every little sound and demanding to know if Ursula thinks it's a chocobo. Apparently, hearing that they're expected back soon only managed to make her fret more. Which is quite the achievement, considering how much she was fretting already. In fact, she's so busy wondering if non-chocobo-related sounds are chocobos that she almost manages to miss their actual return.

Almost.

It's probably a good thing that she managed to get some rest and that wearing herself out isn't an immediate danger anymore. Because, well. Doublecasting curaja before actually checking if anyone's injured.]

[Ceodore's already gearing up in the video, as he full well intends to go rushing in and go after the creature himself. Anyone offering to help better be fast or at least ready to scrape the princeling off the ground when they arrive.]

Someone just came through and said that there's one of those myrrh trees in that temple across the island and that there's some monstrous creature guarding it. I'm going to go check it out.

[A couple of hours later, Ceodore turns the feed back on, already battered a fair bit and panting in a side hallway. He pans the phone to show the interior chamber at the end of the hall with the tree being guarded by Yiazmat.]

I think this is going to take some help.

[When the video first comes on, there isn't actually that much that can be seen, and there's a strange sound in the background. Then the darkness moves, revealing first what had apparently been an enormous paw, then a large black puppy staring at the Sky Phone curiously. His head is tilted to the side as he considers the device he's found. He nudges it several more times with a paw, then with his nose, pulling back each time to stare.

Finally, he seems to have decided that the Sky Phone isn't anything dangerous, because he picks it up and starts to carry it off. Ever wanted a close up view of the inside of a puppy's mouth? Because you're getting it.]

[Raine's struggling to juggle the phone and an unhappy baby at the same time. She looks pretty worn and tired, and little Brooke is gnawing on her fingers with miserable whines. Mom's at wits' end and finally resorts to checking on the network for advice. This is new territory for her and she's at a loss what to do.]

I think she's teething, but nothing I've tried seems to be helping.

[After another soft whimper from the little one, Raine pulls her closer and rubs her back. Teething woes aren't really all that's eating at her. It's the looming prospect of her husband going off on another volunteering to help job. The last time he took on one of these away from home, he didn't make it back.]

How long will that trip with the chocobos take, do you think?

[Though she had spent the last week preparing, and sleeping after the lack of it, Frimelda had still been busy. Partly, scouring every avenue availiable to her, in pursuit of something: and that hard work had paid of, the evidence of which was now in a satchel over her shoulder. A crystal chalice.

Whilst she had been able to purchase passage past Gizamaluke's Grotto by airship - after much persuasion - the pilot refused to approach the island and the outline that was presumably the Dragon, which, was probably the wisest move. Approaching from ground level was perhaps the best chance they had to reach the creature before it spotted them. The final leg of pursuing the myrrh tree and its guardian would be by boat, which she had also arranged.

All that remained now was to meet with her companions. In the early morning light, she kept watch on deck for the monster population in case they dared draw near to the seemingly easy moored target, her provisions for the fight ahead stashed onboard the vessel, but close to hand - there was no guarantee that the fight would not end up taking place on that very deck, afterall.]

[Laguna is currently unloading bags of groceries in the Loires' spacious kitchen, whistling to himself as he does so. Informing Raine about his plans to have the moon family over for dinner may or may not have slipped his mind, but at the very least, he took care of all the shopping for it. He looks over his shoulder for any sign of his wife as he continues to stock the fridge.]

Honey? Do we still have nice dishes for company, or did they get left behind in the move?

[Cecil had intended to head for Troia straight away upon arriving back in Gaia. But Rosa's insistence on going to Figaro instead to meet him had made him stay put, and so he'd accepted the Terra's hospitality for the time being. It was a good idea, in retrospect; his memories of Gaia were still muddled or vague in places, and throwing himself straight back into his duties to Troia wouldn't have helped in the slightest.

Now, night is gradually falling on the desert castle, and the temperature along with it. Cecil is standing on the castle ramparts, watching the sunset and rise of the two moons. If he didn't know better, he could almost believe he was in Damcyan.

Either way, the cooling air is working wonders for clearing his mind while he thinks. But he wouldn't say no to company, of course.]

[Grey, deadened wasteland, as far as the eye can see. The camera shows the midst of a huge battlefield, littered with long-dead bodies and fallen war machines. In the distance there are ruins of a whole city: derelict skeletons of buildings that have all been long abandoned and fallen into disrepair. In the midst of it all is a lone paladin, taking in the devastation around him as the camera grows closer.]

Here's your Sky Phone, kupo! Need help with how to use it?

[Cecil catches sight of the speaker and reaches to take the phone from the little creature. He shakes his head.]

That won't be necessary, thank you. You're free to leave. This is no place for a...

--Moogle, kupo! Thanks, mister. This place gives me the creeps...

[The camera jerks as Cecil picks up the phone and it moves to his height, then it re-focuses on his face as he tries to remember the phone's functions. While his unnerving surroundings certainly concern him, there are two people he needs to find as soon as possible.]

I'm looking for my family. Their names are Ceodore and Rosa. I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me their whereabouts, and if they're safe.

[ Today is not a normal day. Rosa wakes up to an empty bed. Her first thought is that Cecil's up early, so she simply goes through her normal routine, washing up, getting dressed. Once she's finally ready, she begins searching for him, just to see how his morning is going so far. When she can't immediately find him is when she starts to worry, but it's early afternoon before she comes to any conclusive evidence that what she's feared has come to pass: Cecil is nowhere to be found.

It's not like him to leave without a trace. He would have told her, or left a note. Somehow, she would have found out. But no... nothing. There's nothing but emptiness.

So, once she's absolutely sure of what happened... she retires to her bedchambers again and readies a text to Gaia's population. ]

Cecil... Cecil has taken his leave of Gaia. I cannot find him. I will govern Troia in his place... as I did before.

[ She will remain in her bedchambers for the entire day, unless otherwise needed. Clearly, this means someone needs to come bug her. ]

[OOC: Backdated slightly, to around when Golby arrived.]

[Once he's been picked up and brought back to Troia, Golbez can be found around the castle and the town. The closer to night it gets, the more open the places he goes to, and when darkness falls, he's standing by Troia's lake, watching the sky for Gaia's two moons.]

[The video first comes on to show darkness- the Sky Phone is being covered completely by someone's hand. There's the muffled sound of a moogle-explanation in progress. The hand only moves after the moogle's explanation is finished, as the man moves to examine the device. It becomes clear enough why no one could see anything on the Sky Phone's screen- he's huge, especially when compared to the moogle, with white hair and a brown cloak and kilt. It should be familiar to some- as well as the expression of deep thought that goes with it.]

Then this device allows for communication with others.

[Even if they don't recognize him without his armor, that deep voice should be unmistakable to anyone who has heard it before.]

It does not matter. There are only two people I need to find. Is there a way that can be accomplished, Hummingway?

I'm a moogle, kupo! And... looks like it's too late for that.

...Tch. Fusoya, Cecil, if you are here... respond.

[Transmission starts with the sound of a few moogles screaming and running away. Suddenly sounds of fire being ignited as the moogles' screams are more violent then fade as the sound of a crackling fire can be heard nearby]

[Silence for a moment]

[An evil and psychotic laugh can be heard at the end, before the transmission ends]

[Ingus has been fiddling with the communication device the moogle gave him for some time, got Rally-Ho'ed at quite a bit, and is now thoroughly confused.]

I understand that this device can be used to communicate over long distances, is this true?

Forgive my lack of manners, I am Ingus of Sasune. I find myself in a very peculiar place called... [Pauses to ask a Dwarf again to be certain.] Conde Petie.

I may have an unusual question for you, do Dwarves normally vanish into thin air?

[Rather concerned about that, actually.]
