[Rinoa can be found reading a book in her room. She's bored though, and at a loose end, so she'd like to stretch her legs.]

Hmm, does anyone wanna go see some kickerbaul with me? It seems really popular here.

I feel kind of... not down, exactly... but I want a distraction.

[As soon as the feed clicks on, it's pretty obvious that it's an accidental transmission. The hand holding the Sky Phone is small, too small to be anything but a young child's hand, but no one is really visible. However, the inside of a small room can be seen as the owner of the phone walks across the floor to something or someone else. Eventually, the phone gets dropped to the floor, where it clatters and rolls over a few times. When it comes to rest, Slai's back can be seen. She's watching Ellone sleep upright in a rather comfortable-looking chair.

After a few minutes, Ellone wakes up, slowly, and upon noticing the little girl in front of her, she smiles and pats her lap.]

Must've dozed off. You okay, sweetie?

[The girl climbs up into her lap then, back still to the camera, and looks up at the older woman.] Yeah...

[From the look of it, Ellone's not entirely convinced, either.] Don't give me that. Something's up. What is it?

[The girl shifts, turning around in Ellone's lap so she can finally be seen by whoever's watching through the phone. She looks like she's pondering something seriously.]

Do you think there's someone for everyone?

[Ellone looks surprised.] Someone for everyone? What do you mean?

Like that man.  She looked so happy to see him. [She pauses seriously again.] My parents were like that. I think.

[Ellone's heart breaks, but the expression she's giving is one of kind sympathy.] Of course they were, sweetie.

And I want someone like that-

You're a bit young for that.

[Slai nods.] What about you? Do you have a special someone?

[That gets a surprised laugh and she leans over to tickle Slai gently while the girl shrieks with laughter.] Me? Oh, I don't know. I hadn't really thought about it. Besides, I've got you, Raine, Brooke, and Uncle Laguna. Plus a bunch of other people who are like my brothers and sisters. They're all the special somebodies I need.

[She pauses for a small moment and finally glances down at the floor, where she sees the phone and frowns.]

-Hey, is that my phone?

[Slai gets up and grabs the phone, bringing it back and giving the network a close-up view of Ellone's embarrassed cheeks.]

I hope it wasn't on.

[But she disconnects it anyway, hoping no one saw that. Which, of course, means everyone did.]

[She saw her go. She saw Marlene disappear. But Tifa's very good at going into denial when she wants to, which is why she's spent the last half hour searching the house, the streets, asking the neighbours... And then she returned to find this note:

"I'm checking something out. I will be back soon. ~Shelke."

That makes two missing children and an absolutely frantic Tifa. She tries to compose herself before using the phone, but you can hear the strain in her voice.]

Has anyone seen Marlene? She... She's not here.

[She takes a breath as though about to say more, but her fingers slip before she can do that, cutting off the message. Tifa decides to call Shelke directly instead. Ring, ring, Shelke! You had better answer this call, young lady.]

[Sitting still while awaiting Raine and Ellone's arrival had turned out to be impossible. Laguna had paced his way up and down the waterfront, tried to make himself interested in the shops he passed along the road as a way to pass the time, but in the end, wound up retreating to the hotel. He wasn't sure how long the ride back to Alfitaria would be, but it was getting late in the day, and making sleeping arrangements for everyone seemed prudent. At the very least, it kept his mind off of just how long he felt he had to wait. Making sure there were comfortable accommodations for the three of them as well as Rydia, their current benefactor, he sat on the edge of the bed of the room he intended to stay in with Raine, reaching over to examine a magazine on the nightstand. That yellow cover-- was that an issue of Timber Maniacs? He picked it up and turned it over. Oh. No.]

Bushido in the Bedroom? Huh? Did someone leave this here?

[The feed blinks on, and suddenly there's a very triumphant face staring back.] Al-riiight! This baby works like a charm!

[He clears his throat and puts some distance between his face and the MogNet before giving a quick, single wave with his free hand.]

Yo! Name's Zell Dincht! The moogle told me I could talk to people on here and... [He pauses to look around, rubbing the back of his neck before looking back.] Well, I read that brochure thing and all, but none of this makes any damn sense, man. I still don't understand what's frickin' goin' on.

--Ahhh, hell... [Exasperated sigh, and he starts mumbling something about "not catchin' a break".] Anyway, ended up in a place called Luca, I think. The hell am I supposed to do while I'm here? Don't have a whole lotta money, so I gotta make it count if I spend any!
[identity profile] winhillstime.livejournal.com
[She's got a bundle of phone calls to make today and she's far enough away from Raine and the kids to be overheard for now, but she'll try to make them quick anyway.

First ones go to

Squall
Selphie
Quistis
Rinoa

and Irvine
And a few minutes later, she finally calls Edea, too, heart hammering.

Once she's made those calls, she'll be looking for Rydia and Raine, but open to anyone in Alfitaria. She does not mind seeing new faces.]
[identity profile] blue-desperado.livejournal.com
[The feed opens on a man who looks as though he's making a great effort to contain his panic. He exhales heavily, raking his fingers through his hair as he tries to compose himself.] Hey, is this thing on? The moogle said I should be able to post a broadcast or somethin' if I just followed his instructions. Looks like it's recording. Anyway!

[The scenery over his shoulder seems to be the waterfront in Treno, near one of the nicer hotels. He rubs at the back of his neck, sheepishly.]

The moogle said there wasn't a way to get back, but, uh... anyone around here know of any loophole for that? I don't really have time to be kickin' around another world, I've got some stuff going on back home. I just got some-- [He pauses briefly, frowning.] -- bad news. I gotta get back so I can find my little girl. It's really important, so if there's anyone who can lend me a hand, I'd really appreciate it. Name's Laguna. Look me up, please? Thanks.

... I just sort of became the president of a nation recovering from tyrannical rule, so... it wouldn't be a charity case. I can pay you.

[With the streets of Dollet as his backdrop, Edward appears on screen looking quite reserved and poised. The nervousness he felt wasn't shown in his demeanor at all, quite a feat to behold considering he has wondrous news to share with friends and family alike. Many people knew that Edward possessed a fondness for a certain little dancer from Dalmasca, but all of his colleagues are going to be shocked by this news nonetheless.

Bracing himself for the scrutiny he may face for his decision, Edward smiles warmly into the screen of his sky phone. It took him two failed tries to find his voice, but on the third try Edward finally spoke.]

F-Friends and acquaintances alike,

Penelo and I...

[He paused briefly as he tried to collect his thoughts.]

Penelo and I are getting married! I proposed to her several nights before, and we've decided it's time for us both to take the next step in our relationship together. I've shied away from announcing this news for one too many days, but please forgive for it!

Penelo and I are bound to be wed in March, I wish for all my friends and colleagues alike to attend.

I...

[He chuckled lightly.]

I'm honestly the happiest man on Gaia right now!

[Sometime in the morning, Rydia departs the suite she shares with Edge and heads down the hallway toward the guest quarters. She nods absently to passing people, her mind clearly not on her surroundings as other matters have taken precedence; namely, her new guests from Dali.

The summoner didn't ask questions during their flight from the town; the mood was tense enough, and all she wanted to do was alleviate that. Perhaps now that they'd had a chance to rest and refresh themselves, it would be a different story. She would gladly keep them as long as they wish to stay, but if there was more that could be done, it was time to find out.

Upon reaching the correct door, she pauses and knocks.]

[The woman addressing her Skyphone looks quite strange, to say the very least. Her eyes are a deep gold color, her hair buried beneath and ornate and delicate headpiece, decorated with a variety of twisted horns. The pale skin of her face is streaked with painted colors, and it's difficult to tell if it comes from beneath the skin or is simply a makeup masterpiece. For the few that would recognize her, the only thing keeping her from looking terrifying is the lack of gold flare behind the eyes. She looks sane, or as much as one can in such a get-up. If anything, she looks slightly afraid as she glances over dark feathered shoulders before finally speaking. Clearly, she is worried that someone invisible might hear her.]

Where is Ellone? Have I protected Ellone?

[When the feed cuts in, there's just sand. Dark sand, like the colour of sand at night, not during the day. Serah lifts it up, slowly, and the view of the sea beyond can be seen. The stars in the sky are shining, and as the camera rotates around- an empty beach front, where hundreds of people should be, but aren't. Where a dome is in place over the water, where fireworks are going off, irregularly, in performance for its vanished audience.

The annual fireworks display, the night before the city was Purged.

Even though the absence of the population makes it feel like that's already happened.

In truth, she's been looking for the nonexistent population ever since exiting what was the exact double of her and Lightning's house. And now she's on the beach, she's just... in a stupor. When she finally speaks- after a long while- she sounds exhausted, like she's been running.]

Home. But empty. How is this happening? And why is there nobody here?

[It just had to be this night. There were so many things about this night. She half chokes up on her next word; it's so quiet it's like she never said it.] Snow...
[identity profile] winhillstime.livejournal.com
[This happened once before, what seems like so long ago. Ellone remembers it so clearly, opening the door to her room to find herself looking at the bar in Winhill, that when it happens again, she stops dead still, letting the door slide shut behind her. She's not sure she wants to touch the room, not even to test for dust, so for a few minutes, she stands there. And then she pulls up her Skyphone.]

...I think something's happening again. I remember this happening once before, but I never thought it would happen again. Is anyone else stepping into another place... somewhere from home that isn't here?

[After that, she finally walks over to touch the bar, letting her Skyphone record everything. It feels as solid as it did the last time. Her heart aches. She's not sure she wants to walk back out that door in case the illusion fades away again, but she knows Brooke, Raine, and Slai need her. So, she finally turns to the door, pulls it open, steps outside, and-

Finds herself staring at the Winhill town square. She gasps.]

It's not going away! Are we...

[Did they somehow go home? And that makes the panic set in.]

...Raine?!

Odd.

[Slight shuffling and a 'click' that sounds distinctly like an unamused 'tsk'. Which it is.]

Never met a helpful moogle. Never met a moogle. Until now. Still wasn't helpful.

[Muttered; almost to herself] Did I fall off?

Where is this? And why am I here? And what is Goliath bread? Never heard of that.

This is going to cause a headache of Rikku proportions.

[Look who's back on the bridge of Galbadia Garden. That's right, it's Rinoa, and she's wearing her most defiant expression.]

Hi everyone.

I'm back. And I don't care who knows it. I haven't been able to face coming back here for a long time, but Garden is my home in Gaia. I'm ready now.

[She takes a breath, making sure to look directly at the camera.]

I'm a Sorceress. I won't hide it any more. You can think what you like, but if you think that makes me a bad person or a crazy person? You're wrong.

[Okay, speech over. Rinoa looks away over the horizon for a moment, the wind pulling at her hair, then turns back and smiles.]

Guess who's pilot? Okay, we're mobile! Setting off in T-minus twenty four hours, so if you wanna get back, you'd better get moving. Later!

[ooc: I have no particular destination in mind right now. Suggestions? Anywhere Garden people need/want to go?]

Are there any white mages around who know how to bring someone out of a coma? A friend of mine, he's been like this for days now and we're all really worried about him. He's not even breathing but he's having these fits and talking in his sleep and there's this darkness surrounding him. It's something magical, it has to be. He cast a spell that saved someone's life but then he just dropped.

I saw in his head. He's somewhere else, far away, and I don't know how to bring him out of it. But we can't just leave him like this.

[Rinoa finishes typing this and looks back at the unconscious Luzaf with a sigh. It still makes her stomach lurch to look at him. Wherever he is, it's a bad place.

She gets up to wander around the house again, wondering vaguely if she should make some tea or coffee for everyone. Rinoa's feeling cooped up here, truth be told, but she wants to help out as much as she can. Luzaf deserves their help and Raine still needs support too.]

[the video feed clicks on with the sound of a moogle mid-sentence, a sky covered with pyreflies only being visible at this moment in time.] - you understand all that, kupo?

Yes. Thank you.

[there's a soft crunching sound as the moogle totters off, mumbling something about the recipient of the sky phone being a fast learner. after a couple of seconds of silence, the holder of the phone moves a few paces, the sky being replaced by the ruins of Zanarkand behind her, before holding it up so she is finally being recorded.]

It feels like I've been asleep for a long time.

[it takes Serah a few seconds to build up the strength to ask. this is her one shot.] .... Snow? Lightning? Are you there?

[The blackheart is lying unconscious -- by now dragged to the room he was given by Raine. He is dead to the world and not breathing; though one merely has to watch the thrashes his body experiences infrequently and listen to his delirium-induced words to see that he is not dead. He's dreaming -- or in the midst of a nightmare is more accurate. Even more accurate is the fact he is currently holding council within his dreams with his lord and master -- the god of darkness and death, the dark divinity Odin. Who by the way, is amused at Luzaf's attempt to rejoin him in the halls of Valhalla by giving the life he bestowed upon him to someone alike Raine.

Odin is a knight first and foremost that values courage above all else. He applauds Luzaf's action -- even if popping into this world for the vision is slightly draining on the old energy reserves.

Waves of darkness enshroud the corsair turned summoner; a firm warning to any of the household that care to watch not to wake the admiral. This is precisely alike the last vision he received from the dark divinity. He can feel the crushing weight of many leagues of water bearing down upon him... This is exactly alike the death he suffered at the hands of the empire upon his world. He feels as if he is drowning.

Luzaf's responses are audible to any onlookers. Yet the lord knight Odin's words are not.
]

Thy knight...
Thou has't proven thyself problematic...
Much I have journeyed. Much experienced, mighty ones many proved...
In strength of spirit, thou has't surpassed all.
Granting life at consequence of yours for one who is fit to die. For no reward... No honour...
Speak unto thee, thy knight. What is thy wish?

...
Aphmau--

...
My wish... is the same..
To return to the halls of Valhalla.. and serve you in the Underworld, my lord...
For all eternity, in exchange..

Thy appeal is heard. In all things, there is order.
Thy pact remains unfulfilled. One star from the heavens falls, and another is birthed in stead.
Thou'st cannot seek any more without completing thine bargain.
Thou'st sought to nullify thine pact upon Vana'diel.

My lord! You mean for me to accomplish my task here? I do not understand...
Your enemy...

Alexander and thyself art divinities. There art many worlds.
Alexander's destruction here shall serve fitting repayment for your past discrepancies.
Thou'st wish not for the age of Judgement upon Vana'diel.
Thy shalt become mine incarnation here, with no bonds...
And mine enemy, Alexander...
He shall be utterly destroyed by our hand, as agreed.

Merciful Odin...

Ahahahahaha!
Thy true desire is granted, and thine own as well.
Rest and then rise with life anew, my knight!
Thou shalt serve me well this time... lest the bonds of thy successor be wrought from thy entrails.
Seek thy coffin.

...Yes.
This...
It will protect her.

...
It is the only way...

Aphmau... forgive me.

[Raine's propped up against a stack of pillows, looking both utterly exhausted and fully thrilled. She's got a tiny bundle of blankets in her arms and on closer inspection, there's a new baby face nestled inside. Baby's got dark hair and looks oh so much like Laguna.]

I'd like to introduce everyone to my daughter, Brooke. She took her time arriving but I think she's a keeper.

[Of course, she's not mentioning the nightmare that the birth process turned out to be openly on the network, but friends will quite likely get some of the story if they ask.]

[She's jittery with excitement and nerves when she makes these two phone calls. As soon as Rinoa and Rydia pick up, she gets right to the heart of the matter:]

It's time!

[Later on, she returns to Raine's side to see what she can do. She's worried. She can't help feeling that this is a repeat of what happened last time. She's worried it'll turn out that way. But she won't let Raine see that. Trying to protect Slai, she'll do her best to help Raine while keeping the child occupied. It's the least she can do right now.]

[ooc: I think this would go faster party style tagging? But that's up for debate, still. Anyway, I'll get a couple of subthreads up and then we can all have at and whenever it gets done, it gets done!]

[Raine's really tried to put off this discussion, but after watching Ellone opt out of the Winterfest celebrations in Alexandria to stay behind with her, she really can't avoid the topic anymore. Besides, she's due soon. Very soon. And with Aerith vanishing from Gaia, the time's come. She's walking through the house in search of her daughter, leaning around the door frames until she finds her.]

Ellone? Are you busy?
