[Between her fire magic and those with white magic, the undead of the Devil's Road don't prove to be too much of a challenge. Rydia does her best to conserve her energy, though. From what the moogle said, she would need every bit of it for the real fight ahead.

Deep within the road, she finally sees the myrrh tree they need to reach...and the dragon lurking nearby. Unfortunately, the dragon takes notice of them quickly and so Rydia has no time to reach for the rod which would grant them some protection. Instead, she concentrates. It's time to summon the Mist Dragon....]

[Edge gives her what protection he can standing in front of her and throwing a volley of shurikens at the dragon.]

[Frimelda wastes no time in running the few steps to the front of the group. A familiar spot for her, acting as the decoy and the tank. Despite using a fair amount of her holy magic on Undead, she has enough left for her to bring out both her blades and lands them both square on its torso with Holy Blade, before retreating back to her position in front of the party, ready to Cover if needed.]

[ Rosa reacts instinctively, casting Protect, Blink, Shell, and Haste, the last one only when Lilisette's dance isn't doing it, to free her up for a different dance. She takes her normal stance as healer, offering arrow fire from the very back of the party when she can. ]

[Lilisette's and Rosa's buffering magic is definitely appreciated, though Rydia has no time to say so. She summons forth her dragon, which unleashes a blast of radiant breath upon their target. Combined with the shurikens and Frimelda's Holy Blade attack, the Curse Dragon roars in pain. It retaliates with Blaze, unleashing a strong blast of fire magic at the party.]

[The thought of a dragon both confuses and scares him. In Vana'diel at the very least, dragons are the ultimate in serious business. But he starts when he sees the undead dragon, raising an eyebrow. This was it? One dragon? And even better, a curse dragon? Needless to say, he's not impressed. The fact they're so common in the Northlands upon Vana'diel makes him as such. So. He takes the greatsword off his shoulders, pointing it at the thing. He's quite happy to let the Frimelda woman decide to tank -- moving to sound a horn upon his side.

The sound of a baying stag echoes loudly.

As such, the party should get an attack boost that should add to, not overwrite, Lilisette's- and a Haste effect that should add to both Rosa and Lilisette's incarnations of the status effect. And he charges just as the thing fires. His eyes widen, and he just about manages to dodge the blast -- deciding to attack from the side of the creature to save any further danger in the incineration sense.]

[There are enough mages in the group that Ceodore doesn't bother with buffing the party. He knows full well that this dragon is the lesser version and what it morphs into is the true terror. Blaze hurts, even with all the protectives in place. He grunts in pain then rushes forward to jab at the creature with the sword he'd found within Memoria. Strong and durable, even if it was lacking in holy-element.]

[Edge feels the singe against his skin and ouch it hurts, but he's not about to back down from this dragon.

He whips out his katanas and rushes the dragon grinning with his attack when the dragon whips around and smacks him back into the group.]

[She takes a good force of the Dragon's attack, feeling the fire magic singe over her. Frimelda winces, but despite the pain, it's nowhere near enough to put her down. The buffs help to get her back to her position of holding up being the focus of attack. Waiting for an opening.

It doesn't take her long to find one. When the dragon moves and knocks Edge back, she deftly dodges, before running forward with unusual speed for a paladin, and drawing her blades as she does. She almost flurries across it's torso, dancing with her two blades, each blow making the Dragon roar in irritance, gradually descending into pain. It's only after several hits that she pulls back, as the dragon shakes itself, trying to literally rid itself of the thorn in its side, to find it already gone.]

[Lilisette's waltz is the soothing balm that Rydia needs after that attack, though she was more fortunate and resistant than most. She straightens and resumes her summoning, calling forth Mist Dragon once more. Another blast, after those combined attacks and the dragon collapses.

She glances around, wondering if it's truly that easy, when her silent question is soon answered. The creature soon rises again, and unleashes Dark Breath at those gathered.]

[ Rosa keeps up with the healing quite well, aiding Lilisette as she goes and adding in a couple of arrows when she needs to. The Dark Breath knocks her back a little bit, and she reacts by casting Curaja on everyone. Ow... that one really hurt. ]

[Privately, Ceodore's blessing his mother for that Curaja. The Dark Breath had sent him staggering backwards and wincing in pain, he should have been anticipating that happening.

Shaking off the pain, he stabs the dragon straight on, with little regard for how dangerous it is to be so close to the creature. Unfortunately one can't gauge how a monster will react until it's too late, and this time it counters with a Black Fang that hits Ceodore, but leaves the others unharmed. He drops to the ground immediately, knocked unconscious from it.]

[Edge's eyes got big as the boy hit the dirt. There wasn't a thing he could do about it, and it ticked him off enough that his ninjitsu activated throwing a blitz at the dragon which retaliated with another Black Fang.]

[ Ceodore's collapse comes as a complete shock to Rosa, but she reacts instantly. ]

Arise!

[ The spell only takes a moment and then she's giving Ceodore his buffs back before checking on Edge and the rest of the party. This is why she demanded to be brought along; she can deal with this sort of thing. ]

[Trusting Rosa to do her part, Rydia does hers. They need more might than Mist Dragon can give them, and so she summons Bahamut. The God of the Eidolons appears and unleashes Mega Flare at their opponent.

The dragon is nearly finished as a result, but it manages to counter Rydia with a Doom spell.]

[Ceodore scrambles to his feet and gives his head a shake.]

Forgot it does that.

[And usually at random best he could ever tell.]

Mother, be ready to revive people.

[With that caution out, Ceodore dives right back into the fray, slashing away at the dragon.]

[Edge may have been irritated before when Ceodore dropped, but nobody messed with his WIFE!!!. Seriously ticked off, he found the power of ninjitsu at his call and blitzed the dragon.]

[The Dark Breath hurt, but with the combined healing of Lilisette and Rosa Frimelda feels no need to commit to using Nurse. Instead, she grits her teeth, trying to block the physical counters best she can, raising and lowering her swords as necessary, working alongside the other sword wielders to hit the beast into submission, throwing out a Saint Cross as she does. By the looks of things, it's most certainly recoiling. Whether in defeat, or in preperation for something else, she's not sure, but she keeps her guard up all the same.]

[ Rosa stepped back again and leveled a Curaja at the entire group. If this kept up, she was really going to need those Ethers she packed! Rydia's summon was nothing out of the ordinary to her, so she didn't comment on it. Instead, she focused on supporting everyone and making sure no one else got hurt. An Esuna was also leveled at Rydia (and anyone else who might need it), just in case the Doom status could be removed by it. If not, she would just prepare to revive her friend. ]

[The Healing Waltz and Esuna don't negate the Doom spell, but Rydia nonetheless appreciates such energy being sent her way. She isn't too worried, knowing that Rosa will revive her, and so instead moves to make every moment until then count.

The combination of such powerful attacks might already be enough to defeat it, but just in case, Rydia calls forth Bahamut once again. Another dose of Mega Flare ought to seal its fate...though just as she finishes with her attack, the summoner collapses.]
