CECIL'S PARTY

[ It had really been Lilisette's idea, and she had been instrumental in getting it all planned out and running. Rosa was grateful to the girl's diligence and cheer, willing to help out wherever needed. The courtyard of the castle was set up with decorations and refreshments, and tables and chairs had been set up as well, in case people wanted to sit down for a little bit. The castle was also being decorated, so people could also wander around if they wanted to as well.

For her part, Rosa had sent Cecil on set duties for the day, periodically checking up on him to be sure he was doing all right and to be sure he wasn't planning on going back before they were ready.

Eventually, everything was prepared, the guests were due to arrive shortly, and Rosa was on her way to fetch her husband. ]

[Kain arrives quietly and late, and as expected he'll be less around for mingling than most people. He spends most of the time either alone or with Reis in the less crowded areas of the castle... and just a little time on the fringes of things in the courtyard.]

[At some point, Terra wanders over. She, too, lingers on the fringes of things, never that comfortable with a crowd. Knowing that Kain and Reis are much the same way makes her feel a little more confident about approaching them. A small smile forms on her lips as she approaches.]

[At least Kain will make the effort to be social to anyone he knows, and Terra counts in that.]

[Reis nods at Terra and smiles, although it might seem a little strained. Not that she's anti-social by any means, but there is far too large a crowd for her comfort and she's trying her best to cope with feeling on display (even if she's not).]

[Unfamiliar with this person, Reis half-retreats behind Kain and looks up at him for some sign that this is someone trustworthy.]

[Edge earns a glare for frightening Reis, and it's to her he turns first.]

The lady is Reis, and... [And he's never really said this yet, how to put this...] ...We're together.

[Conflicted Edge is conflicted. How to be nice to the pretty girl while egging on the big dragoon.]

[He gives Kain a sly wink before trying to look around him to Reis with a warm inviting smile.]

Hi there. I'm Edge. I've known Kain for a long time.

[You hear that Kain. He knows all about you. You "kidnap" this lady and you'll have him to deal with.]

[Kain quietly shoots Edge a Doom Glare but he inwardly has a burst of nervousness. Reis knows much about his past and he's told her about how he's had those wrong feelings for Rosa, but... he's still anxious about Edge ruining things somehow.]

...Not nearly so long as Cecil and Rosa have.

[Reis nods faintly when Kain explains the association, but stays where she is as it's safer and less intimidating for her. Still, she bestows a small smile in his direction.]

Greetings, Edge.

[She starts to say something further, then pauses. There is some sort of tension here, and while she is perhaps not as attuned to the nuances of Hume behavior as it might appear she should be, Reis is all too aware there is something akin to clashing males happening.]

[ As soon as she sees Kain and Reis, Rosa makes a beeline over, smiling a wide, warm smile. This is the first time she's seen them in person together since she sent Kain to the cave. ]

[It's the first time he's looked at her without that obsession kicking in as well. He feels... Free. His friend is once more a friend, as she was meant to be. Kain looks even happy for him.]

Rosa, I owe you... For helping bring us together.

[After all, Rosa was the one who encouraged Reis to let go and reclaim her happiness. The Dragonkin steals a glance upward at Kain, at once tender and admiring, then looks back to Rosa with a shy smile. She hasn't the faintest problem conveying how she feels to Kain, but letting it be widely known feels intrusive to her.]

[Kain exchanges that glance with Reis, the same admiration even apparent in Kain's hard-to-read features. He knows her feelings on that, since he's used to being very guarded about his feelings anyway.]

I am only glad I could do my part. I am so happy for you both.

[ And if they are willing, they'll both be getting a hug now. She's so pleased it's worked out, happy for them both. ]

[For a moment, Reis registers surprise at the impromptu hug but then she relaxes and even returns it with a soft 'thank you.' But that's almost all the attention the queen gets because her eyes immediately go right back to Kain.]
