[Ursula stares around wide-eyed at her surroundings. She's standing at the entrance of a very familiar castle; that belonging to the royal family of Fabul.]

How did I....?

[She hastily moves down the hall, though in her excitement forgets to shut it off. What that amounts to is some screen shaking, as she tears through the castle at top speed.]

Father! Mother! I'm home!

[She comes to a halt once in the throne room, frowning deeply. There are no servants, no guards anywhere...and she should have passed plenty. Furthermore, her father's throne was unoccupied.]

Where did everyone go?

[Rydia's standing by a shallow pool of water, staring around with undisguised nostalgia. The reason for that becomes apparent when she pans around with her sky phone, revealing a village familiar to at least some people. It's that of Mist, at least as it was whole and unspoiled. That the area is completely devoid of anyone else blunts her enjoyment a little, but...at least she can see her hometown again. That's something she won't take for granted.]

It's happened again, though this time I wasn't taken to the Feymarch.

[She smiles, though. While she misses the Eidolon kingdom, this place is also very dear to her heart.]

I hope I'm not needed for anything, since I'd like to spend my time here as long as this lasts. Far too much time has passed since I've been home, even though this isn't real...for now. I wonder if this means Mist is next to appear in Gaia?

[She'd been seeing glimpses of Trabia for sometime but Selphie had initially began dismissing them as a trick of the light. However, when she'd started doing double-takes practically everytime she took a step outside the door of Raine's tavern, that was when Selphie started to worry. She'd kept herself busy playing with Slai and pitching in at the tavern.

Then she came back to Garden and that's where things get worse. It's been several weeks since she'd been whisked out of Garden and down to Dali for some much needed rest and relaxation but now that she's back... she keeps seeing broader glimpses of Trabia. Even as she's coming back from the training centre drenched in sweat from a good training, the glimpses are still there. All she wants right now is a shower, a good stretch and then a nap but as she punches in her passcode to enter her room she finds herself in a place that haunts her dreams.

The ruins of Trabia Garden are spread out before her as Selphie drops her Skyphone. The feed springs to life to a background of a disaster site. There's rubble everywhere and Trabia's insignia litters the ground before Selphie's bolting forward to search for survivors. She's calling out the names of her fallen friends and digging through the rubble for any signs of life.

If she ever thought that Gaia was a cruel place... this would definitely be one of the times that those thoughts were at their worst. She comes back for the Skyphone eventually and realizing that it's been on the entire time, Selphie quickly slaps the phone shut.

The look on her just before the feed cuts out is a mix of shame, guilt and fear.]

[After becoming so used to Mysidia sharing Alexandria's climate, the dry and dusty air and lack of humidity on Mount Ordeals takes Porom aback for a few seconds. Once she regains her composure, she cautiously nudges the dirt beneath her feet with her shoe, trying to see if the place is real or just another cruel illusion.

It seems real enough. When she turns on the skyphone it's just another test - surely if she can send a message, it means she's not really home.]

Hello? I apologize for the interruption but- I've found myself somewhere that shouldn't exist on Gaia. Am I able to communicate from here? Or have I returned-

[Doubt returns to her after a few seconds. Much as she wants to believe this is true, she's cautious enough after all the illusions not to choose to believe without being sure. One more test. She places both hands over her eyes.]

Sight.

[For a second it works, and she scans the area using the eyes of the stones and the clouds and the wind to see the whole of the mountain. And then she tries to look further and the spell fails spectacularly in a way her spells havn't since she was a child. Maybe the eyes of whatever is beyond the mountain don't want a bothersome white mage seeing through them, maybe whatever is beyond the mountain just doesn't want to be seen. Maybe there is simply nothing to see beyond the mountain. Whatever the reason she yelps in pain, breaking the spell and clutching the side of her head until it stops feeling like her eyes and brain are waging war upon each other. At some point in the mess, the skyphone hits the ground and stops recording and once she recovers the need to test how real the area is is already over. She picks it up and stands shakily.

Real or not, she has to have been sent to such a sacred place for a reason. After a moments' hesitation, she heads up the path.]

[Cid's voice clicks on with fear and anxiety hit him, which if you know the blonde, is not normal for him]

Damn it this Mist is everywhere...

The Count must have sent one of his...grrr

[He's panicking and sounds of an explosion are heard as several men's voice are also heard]

...M-Makenshi...[Fear struck his voice when he said that]

[Signal cuts off]

[The warrior is sitting on a bench he found, helmet put to the side and his hands at his head. The transition from being taken to a strange place to recognizing that place as Cornelia to remembering it and the people of it and the things that happened there is almost too much to take in at once. Despite the headache it's given him, though, he knows that more than anything else, he doesn't want to leave. Even without knowing what's going on, he's afraid that if he leaves, he won't be able to come back, and the memories will disappear. He knows there are things he ought to be doing, especially if he is here because of some plot of Garland's, but right now, those things don't seem as important.]

Does anyone know the cause for... this? I walked through a door, and found myself in this place.

[Aerith can be seen sitting on the ground, surrounded by a large, round plot of white and yellow flowers, all basked in the glow of a light from overhead. Around her is the remains of a dilapidated church; the wood of the walls is splintered and aged, and the pews that line either side of the room are falling apart or barely standing. The Cetra looks thoughtful as her fingers delicately brush over the petals of a nearby bloom, though it's impossible to tell if she is pleased or unhappy by the sudden appearance of her old home away from home.]

I didn't think I would ever see this place again.

[A tiny smile graces her features, as she becomes absorbed in old memories.]

I met my two most important people here, but it's time to leave this place behind. I still have things I need to do. Those people still need me.

[She slowly moves to stand, brushing her bangs out of her eyes as she does so.]

So, anyone know how to get back?
[identity profile] danceawaypain.livejournal.com
[This happened before so it's not a surprise to Penelo, but unfortunately it's still heartbreaking to see her home completely devoid of people. She's standing inside Migelo's Sundries, checking the stock like she did when she was still a young orphan under his wardship. Everything's in order. Only there are no people. No customers lifting goods, haggling over prices. No shopkeepers endorsing products or taking payment. No one. The streets outside the shop are the same and it's frightening. Never in her life has she seen her the bustling desert capital wholly empty.

At long last, she'll take a deep breath and turn on the phone, forcing herself to smile and find the best in the situation.]

I don't know how, but it's happening again. Never thought I'd see Rabanastre so quiet. It's almost like it's somewhere else entirely.

[What she's not saying is that it reminds her of Nabudis in an eerie way, only even then there were the shrieks and growls of monsters lingering in the Mist. Here, there's not even that.]
[identity profile] winhillstime.livejournal.com
[This happened once before, what seems like so long ago. Ellone remembers it so clearly, opening the door to her room to find herself looking at the bar in Winhill, that when it happens again, she stops dead still, letting the door slide shut behind her. She's not sure she wants to touch the room, not even to test for dust, so for a few minutes, she stands there. And then she pulls up her Skyphone.]

...I think something's happening again. I remember this happening once before, but I never thought it would happen again. Is anyone else stepping into another place... somewhere from home that isn't here?

[After that, she finally walks over to touch the bar, letting her Skyphone record everything. It feels as solid as it did the last time. Her heart aches. She's not sure she wants to walk back out that door in case the illusion fades away again, but she knows Brooke, Raine, and Slai need her. So, she finally turns to the door, pulls it open, steps outside, and-

Finds herself staring at the Winhill town square. She gasps.]

It's not going away! Are we...

[Did they somehow go home? And that makes the panic set in.]

...Raine?!

[ The feed skitters to the side, having started recording when it hit the ground. Lightning's boot can be seen nearby, and the walls are red, moving. Lightning takes two steps forward, and then another, the sound of her drawing her gunblade audible in the otherwise silent feed.

Lightning curses, and then steps back, picking up her SkyPhone, glancing at it. ]
First Barthandelus, now this.

What the hell is going on, here?
[identity profile] tosavecocoon.livejournal.com
[ Vanille's been here for half an hour, trying to deal with this sudden appearance of her home. During this time, she's replied to a couple of people on the sky phones and figured out that no one really knows how they all got to these different places. She doesn't even know. All she knows is that she walked through a door in Luca and found herself staring at the inside of her home. But no one's there. Even Bhakti is missing.

At the time of her entry into a second house, she'd been in the middle of trying to make a video post to the Sky Phone network, but the moment she'd stepped in and decided to look around for Bhakti, she'd forgotten all about that. Still, her Sky Phone has been holding the setting for a while and once her finger slips as she steps outside for the second time and into the open air of the village, the video feed clicks on. Everyone who's now looking is treated to a picture of
Oerba. It looks very different now, though, full of color and plants as far as the eye can see. The crystal ash is missing as well. It's beautiful.

But it's making the normally perky Vanille more than a little bit upset. For those few who have seen her before this, they can tell that something is really, horribly wrong. For the others, the moment she squats down in the middle of the town square and buries her head in her arms is telling enough. ]

Why is this happening?

[ She's not paying attention to her Sky Phone. It's now pointing up to the sky, where a large sphere-like structure can be seen. Beyond that is the big blue sky. ]

[ooc: lightning, serah, if you guys want to use this post for the big talk (like when they all get back to Luca), i'm cool with that. or we could do it later. just let me know \o]

[When the camera goes on, all that can be seen are strange ruins. To those from Cocoon, they would seem ancient, but even though they are ruins, they'd look technologically advanced to people from most of the worlds here. There's silence, for a long while.]

This place... No. I cannot have returned to Cocoon, even if this is the last place I remember before I... What is going on?

[The sky phone is a good distance away when it turns on, and is placed next to Vincent's recently acquired bow. Thanks to the darkness of the place he is, it might be hard to see him. The most noticeable thing about the cavern that he's in is the towering crystal in the center, emitting a slight glow. There is a woman encased in the crystal, with long brown hair, and wearing a white dress. Vincent is sitting on the ground some distance back from the crystal, looking at it as though he can't tear his eyes away.]

[Terra turns on her sky phone as she's heading down a hallway in Figaro Castle. Her expression is undeniably concerned.]

Everyone seems to be vanishing or ending up somewhere else. Are you all right? Please, let me know if you---

[Well. She stops abruptly, staring around wide-eyed. What she thought was the entrance to the library had taken her somewhere entirely different instead. Somewhere familiar...and far from beloved. Some might recognize it as Kefka's Tower; this particular portion features catwalks and Esper-retaining capsules in small alcoves. The area is completely silent...eerily so, since Terra's half-expecting to hear Kefka's high-pitched laughter at any moment.

She peers around warily, tension evident all over her thin frame.]

...Kefka? Where are you?

[Just because other people had arrived in empty places doesn't mean Terra trusts that to be here fate....]

[When the feed cuts in, there's just sand. Dark sand, like the colour of sand at night, not during the day. Serah lifts it up, slowly, and the view of the sea beyond can be seen. The stars in the sky are shining, and as the camera rotates around- an empty beach front, where hundreds of people should be, but aren't. Where a dome is in place over the water, where fireworks are going off, irregularly, in performance for its vanished audience.

The annual fireworks display, the night before the city was Purged.

Even though the absence of the population makes it feel like that's already happened.

In truth, she's been looking for the nonexistent population ever since exiting what was the exact double of her and Lightning's house. And now she's on the beach, she's just... in a stupor. When she finally speaks- after a long while- she sounds exhausted, like she's been running.]

Home. But empty. How is this happening? And why is there nobody here?

[It just had to be this night. There were so many things about this night. She half chokes up on her next word; it's so quiet it's like she never said it.] Snow...

Uhn.. This..

[The white wizard takes a moment to collect himself before reaching for the staff which came with him. The staff of Light, of course. And he looks around, oddly pale eyes glancing left, right... then up. And then he sits up; bringing a longnailed hand to his forehead.

...Yes, he's all here.
He can still percept the magics of the spell that brought his soul to Gaia twice before. They cling to him. And they were certainly enough to wind him while dragging him here this time. The faint sound of broomsticks can be heard in the background. As ever -- sweeping immaculate floors.
]

...
Is certainly familiar.

[ Fran had been seeing glimpses of Eruyt for some time. The briefest glimmers in the corner of her eye, in a reflection, always slight, always disappearing as quickly as they had appeared. She had put it down to the rollercoaster of emotions she had been through lately and tried not to dwell on it further.

Yet, rather than in the Strahl’s engine room she had expected to find herself in, she was instead within the Wood, close to the glistening spring.

There were no other Viera in sight. Ironic perhaps, that the only Viera within the Wood’s embrace was the deserter. ]

[Cissnei knows the place all to well: a huge building with wrought iron gates, dilapidated, crumbling onto itself surrounded by smaller buildings and houses. The orphanage in the Slums. She hated the place, always has, always will, and had told herself she'd never come back.

But she had to come to terms with it now.

The camera shows Cissnei opening the gates and walking up the stairs, stepping into the building. She shuts the phone, realizing it was recording, and the feed cuts off.]

We meet again.

[She says this in a murmur. She walks around the building, weapon in hand. Up a flight of stairs she went. She still knew the place, much to her surprise. The same cracks in the wall, the same wallpaper ripping apart, the same water stains on the floor and the ceiling. Slowly, she opens one of the doors; it creaks open and echoes down the empty hallway. Cissnei gaped: her bed was exactly the same too, devoid of toys unlike the other beds. Her footsteps echo eerily as she approches. When she got down on her knees next to her bed, she chewed her bottom lip. Did she want to really go trough with this?

Might as well. She lifts the mattress to find everything that she held dear once upon a time littered underneath: the old chocolate bar wrappers, a few drawings and a bracelet with a snowflake charm dangling from it. She picked it up, remembering that it was her mother's but it was too big for her to wear.

Cissnei let the mattress drop and sat on its edge, fumbling to put on the bracelet. It fit her to her amazement. She grabbed her phone.]

If anyone needs me, I'll be here a while.

[Cissnei says this in a very matter-of-fact tone to mask her emotions. She cuts the feed again, sitting alone on the bed. The past always seemed to catch up with her on this world.]
