furorimperator.livejournal.com[Panted breath, running feet. The boys ran down the streets, treasures clutched in grubby hands, casting terrified looks over their shoulders.]
Aw, dude! Get goin', he's comin'!
Quick! That way!
[Two boys darted down the left side street, the other two headed off to the right. But the two on the left had no respite for the tall man inexorably giving chase never wavered; he knew which ones had his belongings and wouldn't be deterred.
A few minutes later, there was a sharp squeal as both kids were snatched right out of a dead run, hard hands grasping their collars rather abruptly. The boys kicked their feet, but a sharp command in a stern baritone brought a halt to their flailing and finally their ragged shoes regained the concrete.]
I believe you have something of mine.
[Frightened squirming, pre-adolescent whining, but finally the two handed over several gil and the softly chiming skyphone.]
Nnnnn...[The first kid's voice was plaintive, almost wheedling. They knew they were in so much trouble.] We didn't mean nothing by it, mister! [The second piped up, adding his own excuses.] Really! We didn't!
[Then a long silence and the tinkling of a few coins.]
...and the rest of it.
[More squirming and whining and from a few hidden pockets came the rest of the gil, quickly deposited in the outstretched hand. The grubby adolescents exchanged glances then gulped as a stern gaze came to rest on both of them.]
Let it be a lesson to you. And your friends, hidden behind the corner over there. [A swift gasp confirmed their presence.] Choose your targets a bit more carefully in the future. Always make sure you can handle whatever you decide to take on, yes? Because otherwise you might end up in more trouble than you can imagine.
[The kids shrank back as one large black-gloved hand lifted sharply, but blinked as it deposited several of the coins just returned back into their dirty palms.]
Two for each of you. Now, go.
[They wasted no time in disappearing and Sephiroth merely shook his head, chuckled to himself and flicked off the phone, once more depositing it in his coat pocket.]
