[In the midst of one of Alfitaria's town squares lies a lad. His weapon, a greatsword of unknown make, comprised mainly of burnished gold and blue steel lies at his side neatly and almost as respectfully as if the youth is dead. Yet dead he is not; his armored chest rises and falls deeply. And he's snoring. Loudly. He doesn't seem to be in any discomfort or have any injuries at all. He's merely sleeping-- though his sleep is deep enough to warrant complete and total exhaustion.

A moogle holds the skyphone, placing it's little face into the screen.

K-Kupo?! Wake up, Kupopo!
Hello? Does this child belong to anyone?

[Her gaze is sympathetic as she nods.]

He might be. If that's the case, I can show you how to reach him and other people you might know, through the sky phone. I'll do what I can to explain about what happened to you, as well.

[Rydia nods to the moogles; they must have other people to find, and she can take it from here. Her gaze quickly focuses on the boy once more.]

You're welcome. What's your name?

[She nods.]

That's right. It's how we find comrades from home and keep in touch with anyone across the world. There's even a map feature, to show you were you are if you're lost. Though I can tell you that right now, easily enough; you're in Alfitaria, on the Forgotten Continent.

[She shakes her head.]

No, though I've lived in it for almost two years. This area isn't from my world either, but my husband and I govern it in absence of its true ruler. Hopefully, she'll emerge just like you did, but there's no guarantee.

Why don't I take us back to the palace? We can be more comfortable there.

[She fully intends to get a meal into that boy, along with providing him somewhere more adequate than the town square to sleep.]

[Well, that husband and friends might have something to do with keeping that sanity. She nods, then concentrates and casts Warp. It's a long walk, otherwise, and she doesn't want to further exhaust the boy. When her magic fades, they're standing on wide balcony overlooking the gardens. It's often used for meals, if the tables laden with a variety of fruit and other food are any indication.]

[Rydia smiles at him.]

Thank you. It's not really mine, but I plan to take good care of it, as long as I'm here. Anyway, shall we have some lunch?

[Rydia does notice the food concealment, but says nothing, figuring he hasn't had any for a while and isn't sure when he'll next be fed. She's had times like that before.]

Oh, of course. You know, when I first arrived, I had no idea how it worked, either. Such technology just doesn't exist in my world. It takes some getting used to, but after a while, it seems like second nature. And I can't possibly complain about being able to reach friends that are halfway across the world in an instant.

[She nods in agreement; she's used to the technology by now, but can see how it would be strange to a newcomer.]

It's a lot like this one, in some ways...and very different, in others. We have chocobos and summoners, though those from my world don't have horns. I think Eiko is still disappointed in me, about that.

[Rydia chuckles.]

And we have elemental crystals in common with this world, though not the shrines to go with them. Instead, they're each protected by a different kingdom.

There's a world below the surface, as well. The dwarves prosper, creating machines and gadgets of all kinds. The Eidolons, too, dwell below...though they don't usually grant passage to outsiders. There's even a civilization far above the Blue Planet, on the Red Moon. We have two, just like Gaia.
