I intend to travel to the Citadel of Trials. Lufene must be stopped, or she will lay waste to this entire world. I have faced the Citadel before... if doing so again will give me strength to defeat Lufene and Garland, then I will not hesitate.

Forgive the interruption, but -- you say the Citadel of Trials was of Baron?

[Cecil's not usually one to interrupt other peoples' conversations like this, but he couldn't help but overhear.]

What Kain says is true. Baron is our homeland, though we've no such Citadel. The royal guard is trained in a place called the Adamant Isle.

Oh yes, it was a kingdom long long ago in our past, far before the Cataclysm. It is said that the Citadel was used to fill the ranks of a prestigious airship corps called the Red Wings.

Yes, the Red Wings comprise Baron's main and most elite military force. I was once Lord Captain of the fleet, and my son recently joined their ranks. Baron's airships are the only ones existing in our world; they're not nearly so common as they are on Gaia.

What is the 'Cataclysm' of which you spoke?

A disaster beyond reckoning hundreds of years ago. Much was lost to Ivalice, only to live on in history and myth. It is said it felled many kingdoms and reshaped the face of numerous continents, and I believe it to be so. I have seen ruins left behind in my travels with Ramza.

Humanity was saved from destruction by the Hero-King Mesa, yet others perished, such as the winged ones and the moogles.

[Even if he's still not sure if they're from the same world, it's still hard to hear the kingdom he loves so much would one day be completely destroyed.]

Moogles do not exist on my world. There are similar creatures called Hummingway, but they departed along with the second moon.

[Cecil was more grasping for a reason why their worlds couldn't be the same, more than anything... though he knows from what he's seen on Gaia, it may be likely that their worlds are one and the same. His voice is very quiet when he replies.]

...Do not apologise. All kingdoms have a beginning and an end.
