[Penelo happened to note the name on the phone before she picked up, but it's obvious she's happy to find out who the caller is.]

Frimelda! How are you?

Penelo. I apologise for not calling you before... I have been meaning to do so. [there's a soft smile clearly in her voice as she replies.] I find myself well. Much better after a night in a bed that is not make shift.

How about you, Penelo?

From:

It's alright. I know what it's like to be on the move. Vaan usually keeps me hopping.

[Or he did at home.]

I'm fine though, busy finishing things for the wedding. It's so soon!

From:

I am glad. Time passes differently whilst wandering than in the city... it's easy to forget the days that pass. [even more so when you go it alone, she finds. when in a clan, it's usually easier to keep track. when alone, it's just your needs to cater for. so she still sounds apologetic.]

It is indeed. I shall be doubly sure to make my way there!

I can't wait to see you again. So what have you been doing to keep yourself busy?

From:

Roaming, mostly. Walking where my path does wish to take me... taking on hunts and helping the people and creatures I find. The landscape here... it is different, and interesting.

From:

It really is. I haven't seen too much of it. Wandering's more Vaan's thing and he's barely been here. Somehow I still haven't quite managed to settle down.

Oh! If it helps at all, I have a spare airship. It's a long story, but you're welcome to it if you can pilot it or know someone who can. I don't really need two.

From:

If you ever wanted, you would be welcome to join me for a time. [of course, she knows with the way things are, that's probably unlikely; but still. friends are always welcome to go with her.]

It... would be, but, I must confess I have never... attempted to pilot one, though I do appreciate the thought.

From:

Thanks, Frimelda. I'm not sure I'll be able to get away, but I could be persuaded to go out once or twice.

You'll have to meet Edward too.

You are welcome. The offer is always open, if you would wish to take it.

Certainly. I look forward to doing so, though I have not heard that much about him.

You'll wish you hadn't gotten me started.

He's a bard, and a very talented one too. He's a little older than me with these amazing green eyes. Oh and Edward's from a desert country too. We stayed in Figaro for a long time, but then he got asked to govern Dollet, so that's where we are now.

[She's sidestepping the 'prince' issue. It's still uncomfortable to think about for Penelo.]

We... have a lot in common. He had a woman he loved very much called Anna and she was killed in a war. I know he still loves her, but he's trying so hard to move forward and I want to help him however I can.

[she smiles to herself. she must admit, there was a worry... from her own life. not that she'd pre-presume, or anything like that; just experiences. but, this man... truly sounds like he'll make her friend happy; and her him. and that's the main thing.] He sounds a true gentleman, indeed. I am happy for you, Penelo.

Thanks, Frimelda. I know you'll like him.

It'll be nice to finally have a quiet life on the ground and a family.

[The two things that she's wanted the most, but that eludes her in Ivalice.]

[Cecil's making his daily rounds through the town, when he spots the other paladin emerging from the items shop with supplies. He strides over to the woman, greeting her with a nod. Despite all that has happened, and the disappearances, Cecil has been soldiering on -- the only change in his demeanour is that he's more subdued than usual.]

What brings you back to Troia, Frimelda?

Cecil! [Frimelda smiles warmly in response, tucking away her the last of her supplies as she does so. She does notice something... a little off. Subduement, if you will. But it's not her place to ask, even if she is concerned, so she doesn't. She's not the type to pry.]

In honesty, the promise of a warm bed. ... and to purchase supplies. A nomadic tendancy can only take you so for; the rest is all on having the right equipment to see you through.

Yes, preparation is vital. The monsters here are no less fierce than they are in my home world. I'm glad you're faring well, at least.

[And also glad she hasn't disappeared like a number of his other friends.]

Should you wish it, you're always welcome to stay at the castle. We've plenty of guest rooms to spare.

Yes, indeed. Many are relentless. Many are different to what I am used to, even with similarities. [pause.] Thank you. I will make sure that does not change.

[at the latter part, she blinks. and blinks again, before stuttering.] O-Oh, I would not wish to impose... and I am not...

From:

You are not what? All my friends are welcome to stay, whenever they wish. [Royalty, nobility, common -- he makes little distinction between any of them, least of all when it comes to friendship.] And, I confess, I am curious about you. I'd hoped to be able to speak with you again.

From:

[she was to say she was noone important... in terms of any ranking at all... but at the first part, this fades away.] Never mind. It is of no consequence. ... and if you are sure, I will consider and gratefully accept your offer.

Curious? How so?

From:

[Cecil smiles, then, pleased she accepted his offer.] Then we shall accomodate you to the best of our abilities.

I'm sure you recall when I told you paladins are few and far between on my world? The path of the paladin is one of virtue, of always striving to better oneself... In this respect, I believe both of us could stand to learn a great deal from one another.

From:

Yes, I remember. [she nods, slowly.] And yes, I would imagine it to be so. Even in a world where paladins were common, not many walked the path to its end... if there is even an end, but some would not walk the path at all.

[she looks contemplative.] Perhaps a spar? More could be accomplished than what words could provide.

From:

I speak from experience when I say it is a neverending path -- a lifelong journey. There are always new things to be learned. And should if we stray from the path... new sins to atone for.

[Even when he cleansed himself of darkness and became hailed as the holy paladin who saved the world, he's fated to fall into darkness once again. And so the path of atonement and self-betterment continues.

At her suggestion, he nods.]

Certainly. A spar would test resolve as well as skill. I've found the castle courtyard suits the purpose well.
