[The screen flickers to life, to reveal a blond-haired, white suit-clad man looking over his shoulder at a moogle who is flitting away. When he turns back to the screen, his expression is one that is far from pleased. Blond bangs are combed slightly off to the side, underneath which bright, icy blue eyes glitter with anger. He cannot be older than 23, surely; more likely around 20 or 21. He glances around him once more, taking in the scenery. He is surrounded by blue, and as he exhales, his breath makes little white puffs of steam in the obviously chilly air.]

What is going on here.

If anyone is there, I would sincerely appreciate an explanation other than what that moogle just told me, preferably one that actually makes sense.

[His attention is once more drawn away from the camera, upwards this time, following something moving above him. As it moves past behind him, it can be seen to be a dark figure in armor on a golden chocobo, flying through the treetops. He turns back to the camera, an eyebrow raised incredulously.]
And if anyone wants to explain that, it would also be much appreciated.

**[EDIT: ooc: Continuing canon reviews reveal that Rufus is apparently 25, not 21. My apologies.]

Some basics, eh?

[Cue the thoughtful look. Yes, Reno has one. He considers, then shrugs at the camera.]

The basics of this world, or the things that happened in our own? Both are doozies, if you'll pardon the lack of a technical term. I don't think there is a technical term for it.

[He quiets for a moment, all snark gone, then frowns.]

I think it might be best to wait till we're all together to tell you about what happens in our own world. But as for here? The world here is always changing - people come and go thanks to this spell of a man named Garland. Randomly. The moogles are helpful at times, annoying at others. Tseng is the leader of the Turks, as he was when your father died. I'm still second. Rude was here briefly, but left. Cissnei is here, though I'm sure you already know that much. In the time Tseng and I were yanked from, Cloud and his pals were... well... reluctant allies of us. Very reluctant, but we did work together. Cloud as he is here and now? He came from a time before that moment, unfortunately. Doesn't remember squat, so he probably doesn't like you much. Too bad, too - he's good to have on your team. Hm. There are many people like us, dragged from other worlds and thrown into this one. All are similar to ours, but not exactly the same. Oh, and when you were here last, you managed to obtain a rather nice mansion for us to stay in. We're tucked away in Lindblum, with rather nice accommodations. I think you'll be comfortable.

[He narrowed his eyes at the younger Rufus in a more playfully-parental manner than anything.]

You're upset about that news, and you shouldn't be. Cloud saved the world after we nearly destroyed it. Let's just say that ShinRa and its employees had to eat crow in massive helpings at the end of the fiasco. Sephiroth caused the worst of it, yeah. But we didn't help matters any, and if it weren't for ol' chocobo-head, we'd be dust. I know its hard to believe, but...

[He shrugged. There wasn't much else that could be done about it.]

Yeah, you were here before. A few times. And apparently this isn't the first time I have been here, either. The last time you were here, though, it was after Cloud saved the planet, and after ... well... let's just say that you nearly died on us three times in two years. It changed your perspective on things a bit.

[He grinned then, shaking his finger a little at the younger Rufus.]

Don't you start thinking it was a bad change, either. Your Turks simply wished a change like that didn't have to be brought on by three near-death experiences...

[He frowned then, and shivered. They'd all nearly died a few times during that chaos. Meteor nearly squashed them all flat. The Weapons had attacked with relentless fury. Sephiroth had been on a vengeful rampage, too. And after the dust had settled, Geostigma had cropped up.]

Tseng and I'll explain more when you get to the manor. All I can say right now is that everything we knew from the time you took control of the company was unfortunately very wrong. Believing in it nearly killed us all. If you trust anything I've said so far, trust that, Sir.

[It was hard talking to Rufus from before Meteor. It really was. No one that hadn't gone through all they had could understand just what kind of impact it could have on a person. But hopefully after he and Tseng explained everything, this Rufus might reconsider. He faced that cold look with a smile - as though he was all too used to such a look (which he very well might be) - and nodded.]

I hope our explanations help. Knowing Tseng, transportation to us should be there soon, if he doesn't end up sending one of us to pick you up, ourselves.

[He doubted Tseng would. While their era-Rufus was picked up, it was simply because their Rufus had gotten used to the Turks being around him constantly. Pre-Meteor Rufus, on the other hand... It was much faster to simply arrange for transportation than pick him up themselves.]

We'll see you soon, Sir.
