[When they first arrived at Orbonne, Reis excused herself from her traveling companions and spent some time knelt in prayer. Even if the Church were corrupt, it had played a great role in her life and that of Beowulf's. And this task was a shot in the dark, vital and yet without much hope. Even though her piety would earn them entrance to the vaults below, for the moment she craved the solidity of faith.

With her supplications completed. Reis rejoins Mjrn and Bartz and follows the helpful monk to the first level of the monastery's basement. Shelves upon shelves with ladders and stairs, to reach the split levels of the first floor, reach out as the eye can see. It is a labyrinth of storage and knowledge most ancient. Some of these writings are most assuredly heretical and yet they are not forbidden to search.

With a sigh, Reis reaches out to the nearest bookshelf to begin moving books and inspecting titles. There must be something, some clue, on how to stop the Lucavi.]

[For a moment, Mjrn nearly forgets about research. She has seen the outside of Orbonne many a time, but has never entered their basement until now. The Viera peers around with great interest, since Viera lore is almost entirely oral. To see the wisdom of the ages bound in written word is a bit strange for Mjrn.

She watches Reis, but not wanting to crowd her, looks to another shelf.]

May our time within bear fruit.

[She begins peering at the titles, murmuring the names of the Lucavi under her breath.]

[Bartz is no stranger to large places full of books but he's still shocked into silence for a while by the immensity of Orbonne's basement.]

There's so much here. There has to be something useful, right?

[He runs a finger across the spines of books, scanning their titles and being a little more cautious than is really necessary. He's used to books attacking.]

With such abundance of knowledge, there must be some within that can be of aid to us and our cause.

[Mjrn falls silent, continuing her scanning. Eventually, she picks up a tome and begins paging through it. Her eyes widen.]

...this tome, it speaks of my Ivalice!

Your Ivalice? You mean they're not the same one?

(If he sounds a little shocked it's because he thought the book was attacking Mjrn at first.)

It speaks of Rabanastre.

Capital of Old Dalmasca, and before that, many other kingdoms stretching back into the storied history of the Galtean Peninsula. Rule by the Dalmascan royal family lasted for several hundred years before the city's fall to the Archadian Empire two years past. Now an Imperial territory. The story of the city's people is the story of three cultures, those of Valendia, Ordalia, and Kerwon...

[Mjrn falls silent for a moment, scanning and flipping pages. She wants to find something more relevant.]

It's so time for him to move house. [action]

[Rishfee kept within the shadows for a while, the presence of something or someone noticed and very, very unwanted - as it's stirred him out of sleep from within the more abandoned and isolated corners of the monastery's basement. He gathers what little things he has and makes light steps around the person, aiming for the stairs which she come from.]

[Bartz' senses aren't nearly as sharp. But he can tell when Reis reacts. Not yet aware of her own ability to fight, he moves to protect her if necesarry.]

Something wrong?
