[Night has fallen and a small fire flickers in the dark, the only bright thing in a landscape that's utterly black. Terra has no moon and if there are stars, one cannot tell since the sky is shrouded by clouds. Mikoto is sitting cross-legged by the fire, her hands tucked in her lap.

This is a great place to camp, right? It totally is. Let's toast some muffins and have a chat.]

I admit to some confusion. You... were branded? [The way she phrased it seemed to indicate that she was exiled from a place because of the brand, but he cannot imagine how this girl would have needed to be exiled.]

[Even with most of the mark faded, it still looks to be a very harsh thing for a young woman like Serah to have. He can't imagine how simple curiosity could have gotten her a mark like that.]

Why would they do such a thing here? Whatever crime your curiosity might have been deemed as, it ought to hold no power in a completely different world.

I cannot claim to know why that person continues to act against you here, but I would not believe their words. You have proven yourself to be a good person, one who follows the light. I trust you because of that.

[He makes a sound of amusement.] When you have fought side by side with a group of people, and faced enemies and even death with them, trust is an easy thing to obtain.

I doubt there is anyone who does not wish to find answers.

If Garland is the cause of the Sky People's appearance, then it would be likely that when he is defeated, we will be returned to the places we came from. If he is not the cause and we are not sent home, we shall simply have to face that situation, and do the best we can.

Of course. By trying, and by watching, you will improve. The same idea applies to nearly anything one could wish to learn.

I have faced him many times. He is a difficult opponent, and strong, but in that world I faced him alone. With all of us fighting together, the battle will be easier.
