[Sure enough, five minutes later the familiar sound of a gloved fist slamming into the side of something's head would mark Rude's arrival]

Might want to watch your back.

[Reno ducks as something is about to pounce on him, thanks to Rude's words.]

Heeeey! You're here! Nice timing, I was getting bored. [And he will just beat the head in on the wolf he's being bothered by.]

[A little overkill, Reno?

Rude didn't need to drag these sort of things out. He was momentarily distracted when the creature that had previously attempted to pounce Reno came back at him instead, no doubt in retaliation of the punch he'd delivered. Reaching out, gloved hands gripped at the fiend's limbs before claws could rip in to his torso]

Figured that's why you were out here.

[His voice was slightly strained with the effort it took to keep the creature at bay. He grappled like that a moment or two longer, before finally managing to use the beast's momentum to throw it off again]

Everything all right?

Reno kicks the jaw of the thing trying to bite his leg, shattering it before reaching out and twisting its neck.]

Yeah, just blowin' off steam. I'm not the "sit and think" type.

[And he is totally tripped by another creature, falling on his back and using his EMR to electrocute the monster about to pounce on him.]

Sorry about the whole "dead people coming back to life" shit. It's kinda normal around here so I forgot to tell you.

[Would have been nice to have a heads-up, but Rude's over it--which he conveys with the usual grunt as he's nearly knocked over.

When the creature he'd been wrasslin' earlier lunges to snap its jaws around Rude's head, the bald Turk simply catches it by its snout and jaw, forcing its maw wider until eventually dislocating its jaw, and shoving the beast once more]

[Reno electrocutes one more beast and simply flops down on the floor once the battle has cooled off. It was fun, he has no injuries (aside from the split lip he already had), and things went smoothly. All in all, a good day, aside from the need to actually come and vent out here.]

Yeah, I think we're done. [He sits up, collapsing his EMR and putting it away.] Thanks for the help, partner.

Pretty used to it by now.

[Saving your butt, he means. Which is only half-true. Reno's recklessness got him into trouble more often than not, and it was Rude who had to pull him back to safety every now and again. He was a good balance for Reno, although he was sure that if compared side by side, their record of total partner life saves would probably be about equal]

Heh, yeah. [Pushing himself to his feet, Reno shoved his hands in his pockets, turning to head back towards Treno.]

I'm gonna get us some drinks for tonight. Kinda stinks not having Elena here but at least she can't play Ma when I drink a little bit too much.

[Rude wouldn't turn down the promise of drinks--especially on the rare occasion when Reno offered to pay. One last glance to the creatures they'd dropped, and Rude was following not too far behind]

You gonna tell me what's been on your mind?

[Asked as he came up beside him. Usually Rude wouldn't pry, but it was unlike Reno to keep anything from him. And it was pretty obvious that Reno was holding back something ever since he'd arrived]

[Reno looks up at Rude and just laughs, elbowing him without even taking his hand out of his pants. Pocket. Pants pocket.]

Nothin'. Just stuff happened when you were here before and... I'm kinda... pissy that Gaia brought you back without the memories. Not something either of us can change though.

[He shrugs and decides he's going to try avoiding talking about it by changing the subject.]

Think Tseng'll wanna drink with us? I wanna get him drunk. It'd be pretty funny, I figure.

[Clearly hiding something. But that was fine. Rude had mentioned it twice now. He wasn't going to push the issue anymore. If Reno wanted to open up, he would. If not, then he wouldn't. End of story.

Needless to say, Rude didn't hesitate to take the bait--even knowing full well what Reno was up to by changing the subject]

Worth a try. I've got fifty gil that says you fail, though.

[Reno chuckles, shrugging slightly.]

I am so gonna lose this bet. Might be better to just drink without him. He's probably hanging around the President anyway, and we know he won't get drunk with us.

[Reno leads the way back to their base, hands still in his pockets until they get all the way back to the main room, and he slumps into a couch.]

Kinda wish we had some of the old work we had back home to do here. This gets dull...

[Reno really shouldn't have pushed his luck. A foot rub was one thing, but right after a battle like that one?

Besides, Reno still owed Rude for the last time. If he let the trade-off slide now, then he'd never get his turn.

Which is why Reno, feet and all, was promptly shoved onto the floor. Rude don't like people playin on his phone]
