CECIL'S PARTY

[ It had really been Lilisette's idea, and she had been instrumental in getting it all planned out and running. Rosa was grateful to the girl's diligence and cheer, willing to help out wherever needed. The courtyard of the castle was set up with decorations and refreshments, and tables and chairs had been set up as well, in case people wanted to sit down for a little bit. The castle was also being decorated, so people could also wander around if they wanted to as well.

For her part, Rosa had sent Cecil on set duties for the day, periodically checking up on him to be sure he was doing all right and to be sure he wasn't planning on going back before they were ready.

Eventually, everything was prepared, the guests were due to arrive shortly, and Rosa was on her way to fetch her husband. ]

[To Cecil, the party came as a complete surprise. While back in Baron the king's birthday had been a cause for national celebration, here on Gaia he hadn't been expecting anything like this -- nor did he imagine there would be such a turnout. He would have been content with something low-key, and wouldn't have been offended in the slightest if people hadn't so much as realised it was his birthday. Yet it seems Rosa and Lilisette have told half of Gaia what day today was.

He's glad to see so many faces, familiar and less familiar alike, so he's mingling largely in the courtyard, trying to talk to everyone if he can. In particular the paladin is keeping an eye out for Lilisette, so he can thank the young dancer for all her trouble.]

[Whenever he makes it to the fringes of the main crowd, a certain dragoon BFF approaches. Kain actually looks- as insane as it seems- to be in good spirits. Happy even, though it takes someone who's known him so long to be able to notice that. Crowds and parties are still not his thing though, so he's just hanging around with arms folded.]

[Cecil has made it a point to try and find Kain, although it was difficult with people stopping to talk to him what felt like every two seconds. He finally does make it to the fringes, and spots his dragoon friend approaching.]

Yes, a great deal. I never expected anything like this. What about you? [He looks at Kain more closely.] You seem to be in good cheer.

[Kain looks rather surprised that it was noticeable, but then again, this has been that important to him, and meant that much...]

Well, I've reason to be, more now than ever. [He only hesitates a moment, unused to talking about someone he cares for and openly admitting just how much he does care for them.] Thanks to Reis...

I'm glad. You deserve a woman like her. [And before Kain can put himself down or argue to the contrary, Cecil is already scanning the crowds for her.] Did she accompany you here?

She's here with me. [Presumably this counts as their first... 'date' of sorts.] ...and I've been glad for her company so far...

[Terra's around, but lingering on the fringes of things. Every time she thought to approach Cecil, someone beat her to her paladin friend. Uneasy with crowds, she just hopes her patience will pay off.]

[Cecil finally gets some breathing space from being stopped by people long enough to notice that familiar head of green hair to one side of the crowds. Politely slipping through a group of well-wishers with a promise he'd speak to them shortly, he moves to address her.]

Terra! I never expected so many people would attend. [Then he can't help but notice her unease.] Are you all right?

[Terra perks up when Cecil approaches, then nods a little sheepishly.]

It's a larger party than I expected...but I'm glad so many people want to celebrate your birthday with you.

Truthfully, I wasn't expecting a party at all. Everyone has been so focused on finding Garland... but I suppose we all need time to enjoy ourselves, as well.

[She glances around and smiles a little. Despite not being much of a crowd person, she's glad that at least people are enjoying themselves. Cecil, in particular.]

That, we do...and you deserve to have a birthday with friends. I never thought we'd all get to do this after defeating Chaos that first time, so that makes it even more special.

[Frimelda's still on the fringes of things, always somehow making it back to the chair she's been sat in on and off most of the evening. When she spots Cecil, though, she takes her chance to get up and make her way over. Somewhat slowly, though, thanks to the attire (http://burgundy-bridesmaid-dress.wed-ding.co/wp-content/uploads/burgundy-bridesmaid-dress-sale-1.jpg) she has been somewhat "forced" into.]

[Cecil almost doesn't recognise Frimelda, she looks so different from her usual paladin attire and without her trademark dual blades at her side. The voice, though, is a giveaway.]

Frimelda! You look radiant.

[Her cheeks tinge, and she looks awkwardly at the dress.] It was... given to me, after I arrived here, as I was wearing armour.

There's nothing wrong with wearing armour to such an occasion as this.

[Well, okay, maybe it's strange for woman to wear armour to this kind of event -- back in Baron, it would be strange on any occasion. Still, Frimelda is Frimelda, and her world differs to his.]

I must say that it suits you, though. Did someone choose it for you?

It is... strange for me to wear such a thing. [Dresses and other 'nice things'... just aren't what she's used to. But the more time she spends in it, the more comfortable she feels. Better than when she was wearing her armour, at least, when she was prone to fidgeting.] Though, I do not mind it.

[She nods, slowly.] Edge... he asked a servant to pick it out for me.

Queen Rosa made it all possible. I only volunteered to help with the more menial tasks so the two of you could enjoy yourselves. A King as loved as you should have a grand celebration on his birth day, and when he returns to his people.

Still, I want to thank you. It means a lot that you were willing to go through all this.

[And hopefully he'll have an opportunity to reciprocate the gesture in future. He hardly feels like he's done enough for Lilisette to deserve anything from her.]
