[Action for Sephiroth]

[Eiko's in full-on sulk mode. She didn't get in trouble for showing up in the big important meeting, but she's still quite grounded. Not allowed to help with the Water Shrine, not allowed to go beat up on Garland. No phone. No friends. Lots and lots of essays. Being grounded sucks. The stubborn child is refusing to do any more word problems and has run off her tutor with a screaming tantrum. There was a comment that she was far too old behave that way as a parting shot and it made her madder. Why did everyone treat her like a kid all the time?

With no idea that she's about to have more "child" treatment coming, she's sitting in the lap of a winged Eidolon by her window, looking out over the city. She loves this one, possibly more than any of the others, but misses Rishfee and his stories.]

[Sephiroth had passed the tutor on his way up to Eiko's room, and coming to a halt before the door he knocked once out of respect for the girl's privacy before opening the door and stepping inside, closing the door behind him. Noting the creature by the window and the girl seated in it, one eyebrow rose slightly but Shiva knew there were plenty of other stranger things in this world.]

[Well that's not who she expected to see. Eiko waves from the safe cradle of Garuda's arms.]

Oh hi! Are you looking for Father?

No, I was looking for you. I've already spoken with your Father earlier. [Considering what he'd been told by the man and not to mention the harried look of the tutor he'd passed on the way up, the ex-general decides his best bet would be to remain where he was currently in front of the door which would seem at the moment to be the only exit unless one had a way to utilize the window for such a purpose.]

Me? [Blink.] Sure! What's up?

[She hops down from the Eidolon's lap and turns to talk to it.]

We'll play later, okay?

[The birdlike summon nods and then vanishes from sight, leaving the child to her business.]

I've been hired to protect you..[He paused for a beat and then a subtle amusement seemed to briefly into his expression and voice.] or rather to aid you in protecting yourself from harm.

[Eiko skips down the stairs and circles the man, trying to size him up.]

So you're my new guardian? [There's an unhappy look on her face, but it's more from repeat heartache than grouchiness.] Do you remember me?

[The feline gaze tracks her silently as the girl moves to circle him and there is a slight nod as he answers the question put to him.] That is correct...and I believe so, we've spoken over the phone a couple times and one time in person, correct?

Yup. You carried my cupcakes for me at that Flower Festival thing in the flying school.

[She trots over to what's supposed to be her table for lessons and sits on it, dangling her feet over the edge to kick back and forth.]

You didn't know me the last time. [It's a challenge to see if you'll stay put. So's the next thing.] All my guardians leave. Except Rishfee, but he has to do other stuff right now. I'm used to everyone leaving me.

[Except the hitch in her voice says otherwise.]

[He remains at the door as she moves to seat herself, obviously listening to her as she speaks and catching what remains unsaid as he catches that hitch in her voice as she puts on her brave airs.]

Unless this world decides to send me elsewhere I won't be leaving your side, Eiko. I have no desire to return from where I came. [Not with what he knows lay in store for him if he did return, he had the chance to escape that here and he was going to try and hold onto that as much as this world allowed him to.]

[Leaning back against the door behind him, he crosses his arms over his chest as watches the girl before him silently, debating the wisdom of actually answering that at all versus answering it only partially. He likely wouldn't be able to get away with trying to not answer it though..so he would try to answer it without actually going into details. If she didn't already know his future from the others of his world, he saw no reason to correct that just yet. As others had told him, what happened there had no hold or effect here, not unless he let them have such.]

...If you knew something rather bad was going to happen to you in your future and you could escape it by leaving the world it was to occur on behind, wouldn't you want to escape it?

[That sounds ominous, and despite all her bratty ways, the little summoner is actually a soft touch. Eiko's small face grows sober and she hops off the desk. She walks over to Sephiroth and grabs a fistful of his jacket.]

You can stay with me. I'll protect you.

[Well that was a first, but the gesture was not unappreciated and for her efforts Eiko got something of a small smile from him.]

It's settled then..you watch my back and I'll watch yours, hm?

Right.

[Eiko nods one, emphatic in her conviction that they are now a team.]
