[ Image appears distorted, on it's side as a dying Kefka falls to the ground, his breaths are shallow and slow as he glances at the camera and laughs, looking back up at the stars]

So...this is how the tale of this fool ends, hmm?

This is where gods come to die, Gaia...a place full of death and desecration. [A laugh]

But I wonder, with me out of the picture, a void now fills Gaia's holes of a God. And in this case, a strong more powerful evil is just around the corner. So I ask you Gaia...now that I'm gone

[Dark tone] What new big bad wolf will take my place and burn this planet in absolute hellfire. [Slow chuckle into a mad laughter]

It's hilarious, even though I'm gone I've still won...I only wish, I could see it happen for mys-

[The pain courses through him again as his breaths speed up even shallower than before]

[Breathing stops, as his face tilts towards the screen looking directly at the camera, a smile on his face and an empty look in his eye. The image stays on screen for a few minutes, before the phone times out]

[The doctor chuckled lightly once he saw this ghastly footage. How dramatic, Kefka. He never thought of you to be this much of a stage ham.]

Alas, another god has fallen all thanks to the hands of mere mortals. I once told you before, dearest friend, that you were no match for the deviancy that we Humes are known for. However, in your boastfulness, you leaned me only a deaf ear to such truths.

Now you lay yourself upon Gaia's earth as a bloody and mangled façade of the greatness you once were.

Farewell, dear Kefka.

[Cissnei ponders his insane, laugh-laced statement. Her tone is erring on the side of caution.]

I don't know what happened exactly, but I wouldn't take his final words lightly. I think we need to be ready for anything, absolutely anything, we can't have more deaths around here.

In truth, death itself isn't a factor anymore...

[The girl wouldn't be able to tell who this speaker was, but his thick accent will surely give away his identity in the future.]

This man you see before you was a villain beyond definition. During his reign of terror, this man shook Gaia to its' very core. He burned down cities, and terrorized the weak. Try as we might to subdue Kefka, this knave managed to elude all those who once pursued him.

Thus, I express no sadness in seeing his demise, but I am troubled.

Death is no longer a factor here. Those who die may be reborn at the roots of the Iifa Tree. This fact alone is troublesome enough, especially if Kefka returns for the sake of vengeance.

[The accent was incredibly strange to her. She wonders if she too has an accent to these people.]

Then find a way to stop the cycle of rebirth. But that sounds like a pipe dream, easier said than done. I still think we should be on the lookout, whether he does come back or not. If he decides to take revenge, we might have the advantage of the preemptive strike, unless they gain something when they come back to life?

[Now she knew what Reno felt like, those mixed feelings. The opportunity of those dead could come back to life here again and again. Don't think about it Cissnei, she tells herself. She pushes the thought back in the recesses of her mind.]

[Despite how outlandish this idea may be, Halim certainly wished he knew of a way to stop this cycle of rebirth. The Iifa Tree cheapened the impact of death by bestowing life upon the fallen. However, some of those who have died never returned to the land of living regardless of the tree's presence. The controversy revolving that wicked tree seems to brew more and more by each passing day.]

Rest assure that many aspire to achieve such a goal, but just as many lack the means necessary to achieve it. If we were to simply burn the Iifa Tree to cinders, what sort of negative effects would that have on Gaia's environment? The tree itself reaps in the souls of the dead, conforming them into the mist that sails above our heads. This process of soul collecting has been a stable in Gaia's environment for eons despite the fact the tree is of foreign origins. Many of the airships on Gaia operate using the mist itself as fuel for their engines. Therefore, if we annihilate the Iifa Tree, this could prove to be problematic and even catastrophic for Gaia.

Alas, it would seem we have our hands tied in that regard. This does not mean we cannot keep watch for Kefka if he were to be reborn anew, but this does mean that this cycle of chaos is endless for now.

The Iifa Tree itself is one piece of the puzzle that Garland left behind decades ago. He had hoped to use Gaian souls to bring life to his realm of Terra. Terra itself was a world that once brimmed with life, but a great cataclysm caused the end of Terra and its people. In hopes of restoring Terra to its former glory, the sorcerer doomed Gaia to a gruesome fate in order to achieve this goal.

Even now, Garland works against us all in hopes of restoring Terra.

It would seem that you'd need to destroy the soul itself to avoid a revival. But how would you do that? For all we know, a soul can't be destroyed, only the body it's in.

[She listened intently to his explanation and concluded that this Garland fellow was slightly insane and crude.]

Destroying a soul wouldn't make us much better than Garland.

Destroying a soul wouldn't make us any better than Garland himself, but if that soul harbors the spirit of a resentful and hateful swine of a man; then are we truly still at fault for wishing that soul's demise?

There's a difference between Garland and us. This difference lies upon our reasoning for willingly sullying our hands for the behalf of the greater good.

That's true. But there isn't much use in wondering if we're right or wrong if there isn't a method to destroy his soul in the first place. Your mist is kind of like our Lifestream, right? The souls and memories live on, except in our world, there is no chance of revival... just never-ending nightmares for some.

[He was shocked to silence once she mentioned the 'Lifestream'. This wasn't the first time he heard someone mention it, but this was the first time he heard someone other than Genesis mention it. The same for Cloud and his party who seemed to hail from the same world.]

I take it you are from the 'other' Gaia if you are speaking of the Lifestream.

That's right. Midgar was part of Gaia, once upon a time, and it was a central city, now it seems that it's thriving with Moogles. I haven't seen it yet, but... I'm not sure if I want to.

[She was worried that she had touched upon some kind of taboo that she didn't know about now she reached this Gaia.]

Did I say something wrong?

Oh, no! You haven't said any wrong, miss. I am merely shocked to meet another who hails from that realm. I know a few from there, one of them being the President of Shinra himself.

President Rufus was here months ago, but it seems as if him and the Director of the Turks both vanished before Garland's siege upon the land.

I didn't know he ascended to power, I'll have to see him for myself now, if I ever do. Reno told me about the Director, I think, or I heard from somewhere else, I don't remember. A coincidence, them leaving before Garland showing up, don't you think?

[News of this controversial video finally caught the Marquis' attention once he finally secured a ship en route to Warjilis. He was waiting for the airship to arrive at Lindblum's docks when one of his guards spoke about what just happened. Flicking his sky phone on, Halim was silent once he played the video.

At first, he didn't truly believe this man was Kefka. After all the stunts this villain has pulled thus far, Halim was in the right to be skeptical. Kefka managed to elude the best of best, even escaping from AVALANCHE's grasp repeatedly. It has been a frustrating ordeal for the High Council to deal with this ever since Kefka burned Wutai to the ground. However, the ghastly image of this dying villain certainly produced an emotion that was in-between both relief and worry for the Marquis.

Will this man stay dead? If not, shall he reappear again to reap havoc upon Gaia for a second time?

Halim let out a worried sigh as he turned off his sky phone. This was no victory, and he knew that to be true.]

[Edgar's hands clench into fists at this, and his teeth grit against the rush of anger at the clown's face. But, gradually, as he realizes this isn't a trick... His face assumes a calm that has been seen on his throne and his chin lifts a little.]

We are well rid of him. Moogles at the Iifa Tree - warn us immediately if he returns.

Judging from this gruesome scene, he may be truly dead.

[You are very distinctive, Marquis.]

I'm certain he's dead - I'm not certain that he won't return, seeing as the Iifa Tree has decided to play games with people's souls since our arrival here. Being aware and prepared are the only things that will save us from further destruction at his hands.

True enough, but I wonder who was it that killed the accursed clown.

We've sought for Kefka's head to hang within the gallows for a while now. 'Tis truly unbelievable that this fiend has finally died.

For the sake of our sanity and the sake of the world itself, I truly do hope this lunatic shall never return.

He shall not be missed. I wish to close this chapter in regards of Kefka. 'Tis time for peace to reign.

It is indeed. One can only hope that his soul is not one that the Iifa Tree chooses to retain.
