005 - Breaking Point - Video

[Cloud is still in Lindblum. The church to be precise. He's covered in wounds and splattered with blood. He looks thoroughly shellshocked and almost as if he's been crying. He may have been, though he won't tell anyone that.

His gaze falls. He doesn't know how to say this. He opens his mouth to speak and croaks slightly. Swallowing thickly, he shakes his head a little.]

T-Tifa... Tifa's dead. And... and Lightning too. They were killed in the battle with Ultimecia... I... [He takes in a deep, sharp breath to stop himself from breaking.]

Ultimecia has been dealt with... so.... [His face actually holds a lot more emotion than anyone has ever seen on his face. He isn't taking losing his fiancee and his almost-sister very well. Before he breaks on camera, he cuts the feed. Quickly.]

[Cid's currently standing on the bridge of the Gilgamesh, looking a little worse for the wear--bandages around his head and arm in a sling. He takes a little bit before speaking.]

The battle is over, it seems. Ultimecia has been defeated, the mages and rooks have been taken care of... Unfortunately, there were a few casualties, but they already seem to be have announced over this network.

[He pauses before sighing, running a hand through his hair with his good hand.]

...damned mess. Let us focus on rebuilding these cities of Lindblum and Alexandria, and taking care of the wounded. The battle may be over, however, its aftermath has only just begun.

Save your grief and anger for another time. Lightning will be back soon enough. Death is impermanent in this world, after all. There is no need to cause yourself undue stress about it--after all, that is the absolute last thing you need right now, all things considered.

Fang, I do not know where you are, but return to Lindblum if possible. Rygdea and I could certainly use your help. Hope, you as well. I mean to look over you until Lightning comes back, and do not bother complaining. It is what she would want.

[Squall looks, to be quite honest, exhausted. The events of the last few days haven't exactly been easy on him, even with Ultimecia's defeat.

Perhaps interestingly, the papers on the desk in front of him have been rearranged to accommodate a long black box. Those familiar with gunblades might recognize it as a holding case for a gunblade. Those who happen to familiar with Squall or Seifer might be able to recognize it as Hyperion's case.]

If... If there's anything we can do to help rebuild either Lindblum or Alexandria, please let me know. I don't how many people we can actually offer at any given time, since we're still trying to figure out how many of our students are unaccounted for, but ... let me know and I'll do what I can.

Greetings, people and friends of Gaia.

As you know, Costa Faguita was recently destroyed. Sorceress Ultimecia, a powerful mage from another world, was behind this terrible attack. She then went on to invade both Alexandria and Lindblum, using an innocent Sky Person as her puppet in Alexandria, and amassing an army both mechanical and magical in Lindblum.

That sorceress is now dead.

I am sad to say that Lord Larsa was one of her allies. He was killed during a failed attempt to assassinate me.

It grieves me even more to say that a second assassination attempt, on Her Majesty Queen Garnet of Alexandria, did not fail. I'm told that the Sky Woman responsible is also a sorceress, and she is now safely being held in Alexandria Castle.

I believe two other perpetrators of this invasion are still at large. One of them is Doctor Cid Bunansa, the scientist who engineered the Rooks which have protected Lindblum for so long. The malfunctioning of the Rooks couldn't have been an accident. I'll say this now: I want this man dead or alive!

The second is Kuja. We're still investigating where those black mages that attacked Lindblum came from, but I'd bet my regency that it was him. He was last seen at the Lunatic Pandora in Madain Sari, so that's where I want to start.

My wife and I would like to offer our most sincere condolences to all those who lost friends and family in these attacks. Remember, there is still hope! We know that people can come back. I'm hoping to see my dear niece again...

But in the meantime, life must go on. The Festival of the Hunt has been delayed, but not cancelled. We must do something to celebrate our victory, after all, and to show that we won't be dismayed! The Festival will now be held on 9th September. All the hunters who signed up before are welcome to return, as are any new hunters who fancy their luck.

[Auron had heard quite a bit of the events of Lindblum and Alexandria. He felt obligated to help the city that helped him. War was always full of casualties and cowards unwilling to face their duties; Auron was certainly not one of them. In the background, one can see Lady Yuna's house in Luca. His sunglasses reflected the light of the phone. Before speaking, he clears his throat.]

I head for Alexandria soon. Anyone willing to lend a hand, meet me there. Any supplies that are needed I might find in Luca, so tell me so I can buy them before I get to the city.

[Edge is sitting on the edge of the bed scratching at his bandages. Reluctantly he picks up his sky phone and sees to some business in Alfitaria. He sometimes wished he was back home where he didn't have to do so much on his own.

Satisfied that everything in Alfitaria was under control, he went back to scratching at his bandages.]
