[EVENT/Action] All the World's a Stage...
Oct. 18th, 2009 06:57 pm[ On the second day of the Festival, The gates to Alexandria castle are opened (at least, to those who were able to get tickets for the performance). Earlier in the day, the theater ship has arrived -- it's no Prima Vista, but it's elaborate enough, and it does the job. Chairs have been set out, filling the appropriate courtyard, and people are filing into their seats. Perched on the rooftops are those who weren't fortunate enough (by gil or timing) to get proper tickets for the show. And there, up on the balcony of the palace, the queen sits in her 'box', with the captain and general at attention.
It's dusk, before the play gets underway. It begins with a man on stage, giving the introduction to their story. And then the play begins. Playing the lead is Lowell Bridges, a regular Lindblum heart-throb.
It's a story of the struggle for power, betrayal, and star-crossed love. The players are dressed in elaborate costume, speaking an old, formal speech. It's clear to those not native to this world, that this is an Old play. Likely a classic of sorts.
It's long after dark when the performance ends, to thunderous applause.]
[[ ooc: and here's the play! There's not much to it, except perhaps watching with your friends, and perhaps getting into a bit of mischief. The play as performed by Tantalus in the beginning of the game, for those unfamilliar with it, can be found here. Unfortunately, we're having trouble finding the rest, because of the way the play is broken up with other game scenes in between. If you really want or need to know how it ends, go ahead and ask a mod, or, suffer this terrible dubbed version of the intended second half from the end of FFIX.
Alternately, you can read the script over here if you feel so inclined!]]
