[Vincent gives another scowl, but he doesn't bring it up any more. As long as she doesn't actually do anything to Sephiroth, he can understand that she wouldn't be able to accept the change in him. The others haven't been able to, other than Cloud and him.]

Nethicite is a stone, somewhat similar to materia, that absorbs magic. It has properties that suppress the workings of the Lifestream, and that conflict with Jenova cells.

[Don't give her that scowl, Vinnie! She didn't do anything wrong, yet. And She's not planning on doing anything to Sephiroth... unless it's kicking his butt out of Wutai the non-lethal way.]

Similar to materia? [There's that gleam in her eyes for a moment, and it disappears just as quick. If he's acting like this around it, she doesn't want it.] Nothing really bad has happened yet, right?

One person has died. [That should tell her something about the effects of the stone. Genesis had disappeared after the destruction in the lab, and Vincent was still feeling a bit off after the piece of nethicite had been absorbed into his body. Chaos hasn't been active, but that doesn't mean much. Vincent is willing to wait to make sure that nothing bad is happening along with this good news.]

I do not have the authority. The persons placed in charge of Wutai have all fallen in some way or another. The first man was killed. Sephiroth offered to stand in, but then he fell ill, and Sephiroth's second, Genesis Rhapsodos, died because of the nethicite.

If you are willing, we could name you the leader of Wutai. Or you could name someone else to rule in your place. [Yuffie has always been a wild girl, and he doesn't think that being tied to one place, even Wutai, would sit well with her.]

Ah- [She looks down, suddenly nervous. Be named leader of Wutai? She shuffles in place for a moment, before she starts hurrying off again. She's not ready to be tied down yet?]

[Vincent gives a little "I thought so" smile. He doesn't much like being tied down to one place, either. If it weren't for Sephiroth, he would be off wandering Gaia, the way he usually did on the Planet.]

It is unfortunate that Reeve is not present in this world to take control. As it is, it would be best to find someone with a grudge against Dr. Cidolfus, who created the nethicite.

Where is that man and his toys when you need him, huh? [She laughs unconsciously. Just this whole idea of possibly being thrust into power if they couldn't find someone... it scared her.]

He is a scientist, almost as bad as Hojo. He kidnapped Nanaki and experimented on him. [And Nanaki, now that he thinks about it, hasn't spoken to him in a while. He should probably try to get in contact with him soon.] He was employed by the man who originally received control of Wutai in this world.

Hmm. [He tilts his head to the side thoughtfully.] Ask for help of the others. They have been in this world longer than I, they will know more of those who would be beneficial.
