. . . [there's hesitation] I saw, a house on a cliff, overlooking the ocean. And there were lots of people. Everyone, all of our friends. Even the people I know, who aren't from Gaia. It was... someone's birthday. And there were kids, everywhere. And you and I...

Hey, that sounds pretty nice, actually. 'Course, we'd have to get away from the castle and all.

[He doesn't press her on the last bit, though it's obvious, and it causes him to glance over at Vayne. He barely manages to avoid saying something about her telling the man.]

Mine was kinda like that. Similar. Sort of.

[Vayne hasn't gotten where he is without having learned the fine art of paying attention. He's been subtly paying attention to the conversation, while appearing otherwise engaged. The comment about away from the castle piques his attention further. Is this that coward of Garnet's? How droll.]

From:

'Similar'. 'Sort of'. [Somehow, she doesn't believe him] Well, fine, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to.

From:

It was, really! Okay, except it was an airship not a cabin, a huge one, like a house-airship I guess. Bigger than the theater ship, right? Except it wasn't lots of people, just us and...us.

[He frowns. It suddenly occurs to him that they're discussing all of this within earshot of Vayne.]

We could probably talk about this once we're out of here.

[Oh geez, she'd ACTUALLY forgotten that for a moment] Right. You're right. Nn. You should probably hand the phone back to him...

From:

[Well, he doesn't particularly want to, but he can always call her back later.]

Yeah, I guess. I'll see you soon, okay? Love you.

[He tugs the phone away from his ear a moment later and turns, half-tossing it to Vayne. He almost hangs up, but manages to resist at the last second.]

[Phone is caught, and from all outward appearances, you'd never guess that he's pretty much heard every word on this end.

He's not particularly amused now, especially since he suspects something is up.

No matter. The interloper can be easily removed. Even if Garnet is fond of him, she'll recover in time. He'd worked too hard to have it all for naught because of some flippant actor.]

'Gentleman'? [you can tell she's smiling now] I take it he's been on his good behavior. [it's a joke, and you can tell she doesn't quiiite believe Vayne's statement]

Is there any reason he wouldn't be? I believe I shall take this opportunity to know him better, as anyone who is important to you is important to me also.

From:

Zidane is a very good person... but sometimes his manners might be a little lacking. [Is that affection in her voice? Oh yes.]

[And then, a pause. She grows serious] Vayne, once this is over, there are some important matters I need to discus with you. Among these matters... your friend, Dr. Cidolfus. I'm not sure if you're aware of some of his particularly unethical behavior.

[He's noticed and is mentally plotting to do something about it.]
