[Raine's struggling to juggle the phone and an unhappy baby at the same time. She looks pretty worn and tired, and little Brooke is gnawing on her fingers with miserable whines. Mom's at wits' end and finally resorts to checking on the network for advice. This is new territory for her and she's at a loss what to do.]

I think she's teething, but nothing I've tried seems to be helping.

[After another soft whimper from the little one, Raine pulls her closer and rubs her back. Teething woes aren't really all that's eating at her. It's the looming prospect of her husband going off on another volunteering to help job. The last time he took on one of these away from home, he didn't make it back.]

How long will that trip with the chocobos take, do you think?

The trip to the Chaos Shrine? Hopefully, not too long. I'd go, but I've been away enough as it is, with the myrrh-gathering. Besides, someone needs to remain behind.

Cecil is the same, so I try to go with him any time I can. That way I can at least be sure he comes home in one piece.

[It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that Raine is anxious about his leaving again. As such, Laguna has been careful to limit his talking about the trip, not wanting to hit any sore spots... but he knows they'll have to discuss it before he goes. Top off that anxiety with Brooke's being miserable while teething, and he's quite concerned for his wife.

He pauses in the doorway to the living room, folding his arms across his chest as he eyes Raine and Brooke, appraising them both.]

Let me take her for a little while, hon. Grab a nap, take some time to yourself. I can handle Brookie just fine.

[Raine holds the kiddo out for the taking, not about to turn down that offer. Meanwhile, she scoots over to make room for him to sit by her.]

I'd rather have time with you.
