[The camera is static, as the feed starts. Serah's sat at the living room table in the house, the flowers that Basch gave to Lightning just visible to her left. She looks tired, exhausted - and her eyes are red. It's not been long since she found out what happened the night before, after calling Basch, and why Lightning never came home. It's only taken her a few minutes to set up the feed, and she hasn't told any of her friends what's happened, yet. And even though she feels like her world is crashing, she has to let the people who cared about Lightning know before it does.

After a moment's quiet, she swallows, looking towards the camera, her eyes glassy.]

Some of you won't... know me. I'm Serah Farron... Lightning's sister.

Sis has- sorry, Lightning has-

[pause. every word that follows, her voice is on the edge of breaking.] Lightning's gone home.

[She's silent, before wiping at her eyes, and the feed ends.

A little while later, she can be found still in the living room of the house, arms folded across the table, her head buried into them. Next to her is a photoframe - of her and her sister, back in Bodhum - what she brought back from the world merger.]

[True, he and Lightning hadn't gotten along at times, and especially not in the last cycle of the war. And true, she didn't even remember any of it. But she's still a war comrade of his regardless.]

[...and now this makes part of him wonder if she's undergoing the same thing he did. But he doesn't dare speculate too much.]

[The call from Serah had left him stunned. He had made sure to show Lightning home. He knew she could take care of herself, but it was his duty to. And now for her to go off like this. At first he had thought that she had just gone out to clear her head or something, but he had even tried calling her on her phone, but to no avail.

His voice is quiet when he speaks.]

Serah. If you should require anything, do not hesitate to ask.

[She may not know Serah well, but she knows all to well the pain that comes with loved ones suddenly not being there anymore.]

...I'm sorry....

[Tifa's one of the few who gets a fairly immediate response.] Thank you.

No, I'm... the others are here. Vanille, Fang, Hope... Snow. [just not right at this minute; she fails to mention that. At the earlier part, she considers. But... she can't think of anything. This is just the way the world works, right?] I... I'm not sure.

[Kain gets a response a little while later.] ... mm. Thank you... [She's about to add a name, before realising she doesn't have one, so, leaves it at that.]

[Terra gets a response a little while later.]

... thank you.

[Basch gets a fairly immediate response.]

Thank you... I'll be alright. [She knows that's a straight out lie as soon as she says it, but, she has to convince herself somehow.] But, I... I will.

[She pauses for a moment, before adding,] I'm sorry, Basch.

[He knows what she's going through. He used those exact words when Noah had died. He does not question her words, however. Some grief must be dealt with on one's own.]

There is... nothing you should apologize over. We cannot predict who Gaia will take from us next. With so many people leaving and returning, we can only hope that she will be returned to us as well.

But sis, she... she meant a lot to you, didn't she? She... you meant a lot to her, too. [She feels that he ought to know that. And that's why she's sorry.]

... yes. Maybe she will, right? Come back. I just... hope I can see her again. [She clings to that thought like a lifeline. Just.. she always feared losing Lightning this way. But to gain Snow, then lose Lightning, just... it's horrible. Maybe they'll never be all together.]

[He glances down. To hear that Light felt the same...] Aye. She did mean a lot to me.

You will see her again, Serah. Your sister is a soldier. She will find a way back to you if it is possible.

Maybe she'll return. So many do....

Maybe. [she smiles, weakly. it's a thought she's trying to hold onto, like a lifeline, but.. it's difficult. because there's the alternative, afterall.] I hope I can... see her again, at least...

[She nods.] If you ever wanted to talk... let me know, okay?

I know. She's strong. She... always finds her way through. No matter what happens. [it's just the what that bothers her. if it's barthandelus, that's one heck of a fight. if it's beyond what she knows, then, she has no idea. She can be reckless; fighting Lufene proved that. She just hopes it's nothing bad.]

[ Yuna doesn't know you, Serah, but she does know what it's like to lose someone dear to you. Her heart is breaking for you. ] I'm so sorry to hear about your loss..

I am sure she is as worried for you as you are for her. You must be strong for her.

She... went home?

[Marlene's shoulders slump. This is not good.]

[Marlene also gets a fairly speedy reply.]

Mm-hmm. She was, out, last night, and... she never came back.

[Well, she did come back to the house... sort of. But she wasn't there in the morning.]

[Yuna gets a reply a little white later.]

[She smiles weakly.] Thank you.

I just... hope she's alright, y'know?

Mm. I'll try. If nothing else, I'll... try. [After the tears have run their course, at least. That's all she can do after that: be strong. Hope.]

This isn't fair.

[Lightning has been there so long; she was part of the family.]

She'll come back, right? Everyone's come back so far!

[Oh, Marlene. She really wants to agree that it's not fair. She really wants to say yes, she'll come back. But even though she's slowly trying to convince herself of that, that she hopes she can come back, just. No guarantees. Of how long. Or who she'll remember.]

I'm... hoping that she will. She...

Sis has always been strong. Wherever she is, she's... trying her best, right now.

[Marlene nods.]

Maybe we can bake her some cookies when she gets back?

Sure we can. She'd like that. We'll make some of her favourites.

You're welcome. I'm sure she will be. [ Yuna pauses-- waitaminute. She recognizes those flowers. ] That bouquet...! It was for your sister?
