[Shelke made her way absently through the streets of Lindblum, a little sack filled with cookies tucked between her injured arm and her stomach as she wandered about. She had to wait an hour and a half or so between airships before she could continue on to Luca, so she was exploring the city again. As much as she rarely admitted such things, she rather liked Lindblum. She wasn't really sure how she would feel about Luca. Still...time would tell.]

I do not believe I need a cat.

[Shelke tilts her head a bit more to the side. One of the kittens, a bit on the small side from the others and covered in reddish fur with the occasional black patch, has crawled free of its siblings and is peering at her over the top of the crate, it's paws sitting on the edges. It was staring at her, and Shelke was just staring right back.]

It's not about needing one, it's about wanting it.

[These damn enhanced people and their issues. Always so logical. Reno rolls his eyes and sits down at the table, flicking through a book he's been reading. Not as good as TV, but it kills the boredom.]

[Shelke did not reply to that, though after a few moments there would be a 'thump' and she'd make a quiet noise of surprise. The little red and black cat had jumped out fo the box and pounced on her, knocking her back onto her rear. It was now sitting on her leg, staring up at her.]

[After a few seconds she reached out and gently scratched its head, almost as though she weren't certain that was what she was supposed to do.]

[Reno looks over with a small laugh.]

Uh, yeah, you ain't going home alone. That one won't leave you alone now.

[She frowned over at him.]

That doesn't make any sense.

[She gently picked up the kitten and set it back in the box, and it promptly scrambled right back out and jumped into her lap again.]

Sometimes they just pick a person. She must like you-- she'll cry for days if you leave her.

[He smiles lightly and watches them.]

[Shelke remains silent again as she considered the little creature. It just sat there peering up at her, and finally she sighed and scooped it up, standing.]

[Reno nods slightly, smiling at the cat that seemed to have claimed Shelke.]

If your folks got problems with you bringing home a cat, just tell 'em what I told you.

The cat claimed you, so you can't get rid of it.

[She seemed uncertain how to carry the poor kitten, studying the little creature for a few moments as she held it.]

I am more concerned that Marlene's dog will attempt to eat it.

[She said this absently, and then gently placed the creature into the crook of her bad arm, letting it rest along the outstretched part of the bandage. It seemed content there, and if having it rest against her injury was painful she didn't show it. Then she moved over to pick up her bag of cookies with her good hand.]
