[Action/Locked to Penelo]

[After her standard morning training, Mjrn passes through Lindblum's gate and strides toward the docks. The chatter of the people around her is more distracting than usual, with talk about the airship races and the upcoming ball, but she remains focused. Her pace remains steady and she reaches the docks without deviation, Chit in tow.

Upon entering the airship that has become home for the time being, the young Viera provokes a confused noise from her cockatrice friend as she doesn't head for her room immediately. Instead, she pauses by the room Penelo had chosen. Given the hour, she's reasonably certain Penelo ought to be awake...but knocks quietly, just in case.]

[Mjrn peers at it, then shakes her head.]

Far too restricting. I suspect you would come to detest it before the night is over. There must be a better design....

[She glances around, then pauses upon finding a black dress with a green vine design. The skirt seems a bit long to her, though.]

[Penelo replaces it, nodding her agreement to Mjrn's assessment. Then she eyes the one the Viera holds.]

That's pretty, but the skirt... I wonder if it could be taken up without ruining the effect of the design.

[Mjrn tilts her head, a doubtful expression on her face.]

The design, it is perfect, but...I would prefer a skirt which allowed more movement. I shall place this aside, but suspect that the search yet continues.

[The next one that comes off the rack is white with red accents, inspired by the gown Garnet wore for her birthday, although Penelo doesn't realize this.]

This one is pretty, even though it's formal. It's regal, don't you think?

It is, at that. Quite beautiful, though I wonder if it will be too heavy. You can try it and see?

[She hefts the dress, good indication that it is in fact too heavy and takes it to be tried on.]

[Waiting for Penelo, Mjrn glances around and tries to find more that suit her. There's one that's a nice green shade, but the skirt is overly long--it even has a train. No, not what she needs. The next several moments are spent in fruitless searching, finding dresses that are either totally wrong or just off enough to not be worth the effort.]

[Penelo emerges in the gown, her braids wrapped around her head so it's more fitting with the dress. It fits well and frankly makes her look as regal as she'd described it. Yet, it is in fact ridiculously heavy and she has to lift the skirts to manage a walk.]

I don't think I'm meant to wear something like this.

It is beautiful...but it does not suit you. You are meant to move more freely, not be weighed down thus.

[A soft sigh, and then she turns to go back. On the way, she pauses, fingering the fabric of a dress thoughtfully.]

It would be as though I were encased in water. Is the slit too high?

[Viera notions of modesty are far different, but she's aware enough of hume standards now to wonder how suitable it will be for the ball.]
