Well I Shot a Man in Reno Just to Watch Him Die

[Tidus had had enough of bars back on Spira, but here he was, behind another set, and absolutely no happier about it than he had been the first time. He'd worn out the yelling and pounding to be released in the first day, though, except for the times when the guards brought his food - then he tried again, and always failed. At the moment he was seated on the cot in the cell, glowering at the wall. One boot was on the floor where it had landed after rebounding off the cell bars - he'd thrown it, trying to get someone's attention, and had failed at that miserably. At the moment he was just kind of pissed off.]

[Cloud took up the rear, following Firion in, sliding his shades off and slipping them in his pocket, leaning against the bars.}

Did you do it? [No beating around the bush for Cloud.]

[Oh hi there. Tidus doesn't get up, but he does look over at them, still annoyed.]

You'd think killing a guy four times would be enough.

Tidus...

In Gaia, it seems the man you killed was of a respectable status. What made you want to kill him now and be caught?

[Cloud sighed at Tidus and reached to squeeze Firion's shoulder lightly.]

Maybe he was attacked first. [Serious face for you, Tidus.] Were you?

[He just keeps on frowning with those big blue eyes that just won't quit.]

[Yeah, try that with someone else, Cloud. Tidus never bought that, and never will.]

Yeah, I was! Seymour hates me - hates us. Even on Spira he was trying to use Yuna to kill everyone. He forced her to marry him by holding all of us at gunpoint and threatening to blow us all up just so he'd be her Guardian and she'd use him for the Final Summoning and he'd become Sin.

[It's messy, but that's the basic reasoning behind the hate. Good luck sorting it out, you two.]

Of course, no one saw, correct? The fact that Seymour attacked first, I mean.

[Oh yeah, making soooo much sense there, Tidus.]

Isn't that usually how it is?

[And Cloud is just going to lean against this here wall, out of the way of Firion's RAGE.]

People saw. I dunno why I'm still in here, but the Guado're probably doing something to keep me here. They can't be from that far on if that's true.

[Tidus finally sits up, glowering at a point in front of him.]

Seymour killed his own dad and wanted to use Yuna to become this giant monster thing that existed on Spira. He still wanted to use her here, even if Sin doesn't exist. So when I proposed...

[Yeah, he hadn't really thought that through. Both Kefka and Seymour had heard it - and they became even bigger targets because of it.]

He came down to Luca and summoned Anima on me.

But is there any way to prove that Seymour was the one attacking you first? A witness?

[Cloud frowns and sighs, shaking his head lightly. He doesn't even know what to say so, as Firion thinks it, Cloud offers:]

I could break the bars with my hands if we want to get him out, Firion.

Someone should've gotten it on sphere, they're all over Luca.

[And finally, Tidus is looking at both of them after Cloud's suggestion.]

Come on, Cloud, you've got a family! Tifa'd kill us all if you got thrown in here with me!

Cloud, keep your voice down! The guard could have heard you!

I'm sure Tifa is upset with Cloud being down here in general. But that isn't the point. We do need to find a way to get you out of here. Without causing some kind of alarm. Tidus, is there a witness besides the Guado?

[Cloud pouts slightly at Firion but settles back silently. He's not going to make himself a direct target for Firion's mother-rage.]

There weren't any Guado at all, Seymour came on his own. Told 'em he was looking for me, I guess. And the people in Luca know what he's like, they were backing away from him the moment he showed up, at least the ones from Spira were. I just want out of here, guys! Yuna's gonna need me!

[Once a Guardian, always a Guardian.]

I don't understand, then why are you being accused of murder a man in self-defense if people know what he's like?

Getting riled up won't do you any good. We need a plan.

[Cloud makes his way over to the bars, being very discreet and managing to withdraw something from his pocket, slipping it into Tidus' hand without the guard noticing. HERE. Have your phone back. He picked it up on their search for you.]

People always want to pretend that those in charge are the ones that are good. That everyone else is below them; just thieves, murderers... terrorists.

Tidus did something right and he's being punished because he's not the politician here.

[PHONE! Yes! Tidus nearly rolls off the cot as he sees it, getting over to the bars to take it back. Fortunately his clothes, even Gaian clothes, have enough pockets that he can hide it easily.]

Only thing I did was fight back against someone who wanted to kill me, and has for almost a year. But he hadn't done anything before this, so I guess on this world he looked okay.

[It was why they hadn't attacked him - why Yuna had even been trying to get along with him. Of course it had failed.]

So, what do we do then? Have they told you anything since you have been brought here?

[Cloud is quiet again, leaning slightly Firion's way, just trying not to show how worried he is by letting his gaze hit the floor.]

[And Tidus just shakes his head, gripping onto the bars.]

Nothing! I told them what happened, but I don't even know if they're trying to look into it!

We can't break him out of here, not without a plan. But we also don't know what they are planning for him either. For all we know, he could be released without a problem.
