Greetings all,

I am Dr. Cidolfus Demen Bunansa, formerly known as Chief of Draklor Laboratories. In retaliations of the claims brought to my attention regarding my research as of late, I feel as if I need to clear the air publicly regarding my profession. As I previous stated I am the chief researcher of the renowned weapons research facility within my home of Ivalice, who’s specialty lies within the creation of battle droids known as ‘Rooks’ along with work regarding manfacted nethicite.

As some of you may know, there has been a public claim stating that I’ve abused by power and creed as a scientist upon a being known as ‘Nanaki’. While the accusations are horrendously fanciful, I do admit that I have wrongly harmed this being in my pursuit for knowledge. While threats were made towards Nanaki or his friends are false at best, I do admit to having harmed Nanaki during my research. Have I known he was a sentient life form; I would have never persisted with my research.

Within Ivalice, creatures such as Nanaki do not exist and I was far too eager to study him in the comforts of my laboratory. However, coming to realize the error of my ways, Nanaki was freed but not before several armed strangers attacked me within the governor’s mansion in Wutai. Suffering more than just a bruised ego, I’ve been detained to a bed for quite some time before being able continue with my work.

Thinking that all was well, I assumed that Nanaki and I were on better terms before he began to slander my name in public. I brought it to his attention in a polite manner numerous times but all my efforts were in vain. With that said, I no longer persisted in the issue in hopes that Nanaki wouldn’t continue to slander me.

However, it would seem that I was wrong for the name-calling continues. While I hope for nothing else other than for the two of us to be at peace, it seems as if Nanaki desires for my blood to be split. Even now, he has gathered support against me in the form of violence.

Thus, this is why I humbly give my apologies to all those affected by this nasty incident. I merely wish for Nanaki and me to come an understanding in order to bring this mild crisis an end.

Again, I do sincerely apologize to Nanaki and his comrades for the discord caused by my hands.

You knew. The network shows it. You knew and you lured me away, captured me, tortured me and cackled like a madman all the while.

You are the slanderer, and your apology is as false as your pride is large.

Nay, I did not. Had I known, you would have never been captured or used within my experiments. This was my greatest error and I admit to it.

However, for you to persist in this folly honestly baffles me.

And so conversations over the network are to be completely disregarded as evidence, are they? Your interest in the Water Mirror, your request that I meet you in Wutai -- none of those show that you knew I was sentient?

If you can truly make such an error, then no one should trust you or your machines either way.

There is clearly nothing I can say to apologize to you, Nanaki and yet you seem to forget all the slanders I have suffered thus forth thanks to you and your companions. However, I am not here to argue with you.

Believe what you will, you are good at that.

It is not slander if it is the truth. You seem to have suffered nothing, and if you have, it is less than you deserve. It is certainly less than I suffered, or would you like me to describe, in detail, the number of times I was nearly on death's door?

Your argument is flawed, and that is because it is a lie.

I can access the threats you sent to me and share them with the world, if you'd like. I tried to protect others, and in my doing so, you chose to tell me that you would harm more. That is no figment of my imagination. It is the truth, and I have the evidence to prove it.

Why yes! I hail from a different world than Nanaki, a world where humes are the majority. Nanaki truly fascinated me, thus why I even chose him to be apart of my experiments.

I confused him for a common fiend at first but eventually he was freed by my own will.

Do you honestly consider me to be foolish to conduct the same experiment upon another after facing such a scandal? I am disappointed for a lesson has certainly been learned.

My research requires that I use organic or rather living subjects for me to test my work on. Unless you have any suggestions regarding that aspect, it seems that the answer is 'Yes'.

However, it would seem that you misunderstand the reason for such research to begin with. My Rooks that are currently stationed in Lindblum are being utilized to deter an ardent criminal by the name of 'Kefka'. They are Lindblum's first and last defense against that knave.

If you take away these Rooks, Lindblum will surely fall like Wutai did months ago. Would you rather have an entire nation rendered into ashes because of your moral clause?

Aeons? You mean 'Espers', don't you? If you are speaking about summoned beasts, then 'No'. My Rooks are more or less a fusion between artificial intelligence and the latest technology.

Built with a nethicite laden core, these robots drain away the magicks of anyone who comes near it. Thus, leaving Kefka to be quite weak against their might.

I know, but at the moment it's best if we refrain from any public displays of bias. We have to be careful-- anything we say can be used against us if we don't tread the topic cautiously.

Nanaki has one thing in his favour. He's never lied to anyone before, while you did inhumane experiments on him.

[If the good Doctor is observant, he will notice the specks of gold flitting through Vincent's eyes. Even if he doesn't notice that, the gunman is obviously angry, from his icy glare and stiff posture.]

An apology does nothing to change what you did. [The words are clipped and harsh, with an almost-echo behind Vincent's voice as he says them.]

Then what does? My demise? Do not tell me you are amongst the many who wish to do me harm. When has two wrongs ever make a right?

Tell me, Doctor. Have you ever found yourself in the position your captives have been put in? As a specimen, not as a being with thoughts or fears? A simple experiment, useful only in what can be done to you.

[Vincent's scarlet-gold stare is focused on Cid with inhuman intensity.] There is no forgiving a captor for that.

You speak as if you have experience within such folly, a shame really since I detest the idea of testing upon fellow men. In Draklor, we have a strict policy in what is tested and how these tests are conducted. As I have said before, this was nothing more than unfortunate incident caused by my own ambitious nature. Nanaki has suffered greatly during these experiments but I was hasty to stop them once I realized what he truly was, a thinking and breathing individual.

[The doctor was now glaring slightly at Vincent despite the calm and collected demeanor he is exuding now.] Then tell me, sir, if there is no forgiveness to be had; how longer must I suffer from these allegations of cruelty despite the fact my work relies upon such callousness?

Walk a mile in my shoes before you start judging me.

If you disregard them, those regulations might as well be nonexistent. In a world like this, there may not be many fellow men in any case. [Monsters, like him. Or others like Nanaki, who are sentient and intelligent but do not have human forms.]

You continue to exist as a threat in their eyes, so you will be struck out against. It might be best, Doctor, if you did not continue with experiments involving living beings while on this world. [There is a hint of a threat behind those words, though it doesn't go beyond that. Dr. Cid is similar to Hojo, but he has a pretense of morals, and has not yet done anything to earn Vincent's true unadulterated loathing.]

You humor me since you wish for me to do impossible. My research is what defines me; it is all I have left of a legacy lead astray by the hands of others. No one shall deter me, sir. Not you or your wretched little friend.

All those who oppose me will be crushed merciless beneath my boot, do try not earn my scorn. I wish not kill again for the sake of my research.

[Vincent's response is to actually snarl, as Chaos peeks through in eyes that are nearly completely gold.]

I will not hesitate to stop someone who destroys lives for the sake of research.

[The young Viera just glares for a moment before she speaks, her voice quiet yet full of disgust.]

Your words are empty. All who aided Nanaki in Wutai know the truth, and now it is known to the larger world as well.

Why... why would you do something like that to Nanaki? It's not right to hurt people like that!

I've known scientists like you. You didn't care whether Nanaki was sentient or not as long as you could use him in your sick experiments. And I know that you threatened me.

Stay away from me, stay away from Nanaki, and stay away from my family.
