I did not ask anyone to write it. I did not know of it until she asked me about it, and I was as confused as she.

[And, rather belatedly;] I am not trying to win her heart, Cecil. [He's not the best liar, even to himself, but he doesn't think of it that way. It's wouldn't be trying to win her over- he's not sure what it would be, but it's not like he needs to drag her into acknowledging him or being friendly toward him.
