[On the screen is a very panicked-looking moogle.]

Hey, anyone know a Firion, kupo? Cause if I were him, I'd stay away from the Veldt. Away from the whole Mist Continent altogether even, kupo! There's a big mean looking guy yelling about trying to find him, I think he might be out for blood!

[Sure enough, in the background distant cries of 'Where Firion?!' can be heard.]

Out for Firion's blood?

[He's surprised to hear it. There aren't that many people who would want to attack Firion, of all people. It takes him a moment to recognize the voice in the background, but when he does, he's pleased.]

That's not 'out for blood,' that's- [He shakes his head, then raises his voice.] Guy! Calm down.

[And he does, almost immediately. He follows the voice, looking around as the poor moogle tries to be as discreet as possible about backing slowly away from him.]

Ricard?! Where you? I not see!

[The fact that the moogle's moving isn't hard to tell, when he's observing the scene through something in its hands.]

Would you stop moving? He isn't going to hurt you.

Guy, the moogle- this creature- is holding a device. I'm talking to you through it. You understand?

...strange beaver is- moo...gul. Device is...for talk...

[And then something apparently clicks and he looks ridiculously proud of himself.]

Is... 'device' is like pendant?

[Guy is such a kid. Ricard can't help a brief smile.]

Yeah, like that. Except it lets us talk from far away.

Device is for talk Ricard.

[He's yet to notice anything odd about this situation, other than the lack of Firion.]

...is there device for talk Leon?

For talking to anyone who has another one of the devices.

[Ugh. Now there's a question that'll be difficult to explain the answer to.]

I don't know. I don't think he has a device... but I know Firion does.

[Question successfully dodged.]

Firion have device? Can talk Firion?!

[He outstretches a hand to the moogle]

Guy can have device, moo-gul?

[Good. Ricard would try explaining it later on, but talking with Guy is easier when it happens in person, and it would be much easier to do when Ricard didn't have a horde of monsters and his son distracting him from it.]

Yeah. It shouldn't be long before he answers you.

[He takes the skyphone and promptly shakes it around, trying to work it.]

Device? Device! Device talk Firion!

Not like that. Just wait a little while. He'll talk to you as soon as he notices that you're here.

...Guy wait, then.

Just be careful. There're a ton of monsters around. I'd come get you right now, but [He has his son to take care of] I'm busy with them myself.

...monster?

Guy okay. Guy- ask they not hurt.

All right, if you say so. But don't be afraid to take out a few of them, if you have to.

How does he know Firion?

I don't know, kupo! I went to bring him the phone and he just started yelling about some Firion!

Let me talk to him! I know Firion.

[Guy heard those magic words! He points at the skyphone.]

Box you have know Firion. Guy have?

[The terrified moogle surrenders the skyphone without argument.]

Where Firion, box?

[Terra shakes her head.]

I'm not in the box, I'm just speaking through it. My name is Terra, and Firion's a friend of mine. You're a friend, too?

Box is... speaking? Or Terra? Both?

[y-yeah, he kind of thinks you're introducing yourself as 'speaking through it'.]

Guy Firion friend. But Firion gone! You know where strange beaver put he?

Strange beaver--oh, the moogle? Please don't scare them. They want to help.

The last time I heard from Firion, he was near Lindblum. I think he might still be there. Where are you? Did the moogles say?

Moo-gul say this- Veldt. Have many monster.

Oh! I know that place. Lindblum is very close by. The moogles should be able to show you the way...though I can't say it's safe there. A lot of monsters arrived and are hurting people.

Monster...fine. Guy talk they. Ask stop.

[And if that doesn't work then Guy punch them until they stop, but that's the plan B.]

You...can talk to them?

[Nod. Nod.]

Guy...not talk Firion good. But talk monster.

['Firion' here means 'English']

I hope they'll listen to you, then. They're scaring and hurting a lot of people.

If not listen, Guy- stop they. But ask first.

Be careful, Guy. Please?

[He smiles. It- looks a little out of place on him. It's gentler than the rest of him could ever look.]

Guy careful. Thank you, Speaking.

[He starts making odd noises at the moogle, attempting to speak to it in beaver to ask where he is. Not being a beaver, the moogle is just wierded out.]

The Veldt! He's in the Veldt, kupo! Can you make him stop that noise?
