The Return of the Bard [accidental video]

[ Water.

There was water everywhere, even upon the screen of this misplaced Skyphone.

Droplets of water slithered down his shaky palms as he thrashed about within these shallow but icy pools for a minute or so. Uncertain as to what sort of fate has befallen upon him now, the unlucky fellow paused once he recognized the swampy surroundings.]

P-Pinnacle Rocks?!

[The shock was clearly evident within the bard’s tone, even if he was barely seen within the video.]

This is—Gaia! I’m…what happened to me?

[Falling quiet for a moment or two, only the bard’s shaky breaths could be heard as he searched within the waters for his lyre. For those watching, one might notice how something amidst here. Edward looked haggard, fatigued even, almost as if he hasn’t slept for a thousand or so nights. Besides his sleepless appearance, the bard was dressed oddly within peculiar robes that possessed a neon-blue glow.

It seems that wherever Fate whisked Edward off too wasn’t a friendly one, especially since he possessed a few ugly bruises upon his wrists and hands.]

Oh, where did it go?!

[Still thrashing about within the water, Edward finally stops once he spots a glimmer of gold nearby.]

My lyre!

[He hastily snatches it out of the water.]

Thank the heavens! I hope the strings aren’t too soggy…

[It takes him only a second to recognize the voice and face, but Edward is almost hesitant to speak.]

Kain, where are you and the others? Are they still here on Gaia? This is Gaia isn't?

[That is what he would like to know! Amnesia is such a pesky ailment.]

This is Gaia, correct? I-I have no idea what happened, but I've returned here to Pinnacle Rocks.

[That alone relieves so many of her fears. She feels her heart jump up into her throat and without pause, she's scrambling for the hangar where the airship is docked.]

[That draws a smile to her face. She nods a little and takes one last good look at Edward before she starts strapping herself in to the pilot's seat.]

[And a few hours later, she's putting down just outside the watery landscape and rushing in to find him.]

[Rydia sags in relief. So he does remember Gaia. That's one issue put to rest.]

I'm on my way back to Alfitaria.

[By now, Edward already tossed that horrendous Purgee cloak into the fire he made. That may not have been the best idea since his tunic underneath was completely drenched, but at least the warm orange glow of the campfire did well to chase off the chill.

Waiting underneath the thick canopy of leaves and vines, Edward paused once he heard someone call his name.]

Penelo?

[He rose from the ground.]

[Splash splash splash! She's running through the water since it's the fastest route to get to Edward and as soon as she's close, flings her arms around him.]

[As soon as he spotted Penelo, Edward ran towards her. He couldn't believe his bad luck as of lately. Just when he was about to ask her the most important question of his life, he gets snatched away from both her and the opportunity to do so.

Grateful for the chance to be with her again, Edward wraps his arms around her once she came near.]
