[Today, Edgar is a busy man. First, a phone call, to one particular little girl who just happens to have summons at her beck and call. No, he doesn't want to talk to your father, he would rather speak with you directly, Eiko.]

[Second, he will climb to the roof to visit Reis. She's been wasting away again, and Edgar is not going to let her do that without a fight.]

[Third, once the rest is accomplished, he will make a broadcast from his office, an official-enough place that is less imposing than the throne room so as not to drive people away.]

I have something of an announcement to make, on behalf of the kingdom of Figaro.

Over the past few months, more and more children have arrived on Gaia without a protector, and many native Gaian children have seen their family and neighbors disappear before their eyes. I have acquired a large, empty building in the town of South Figaro that we plan to renovate extensively to provide a home for these children, a place where they can be assured of safety and security.

It will be run primarily by Terra Branford, but many children need many caretakers. If you are interested in either helping with the construction or at the facility after it is completed, please let me know in response to this message.

The world is changing around us, but together we can provide help for those in need.

[He lets the first part go; Relm was young, but useful. And there's a chuckle at the second.] Perhaps not, but I think you'd be the hero of the rest of our friends for that. Especially Celes and Sabin.

I suppose, but I don't do it to impress them. I just...want to make sure you're alright. Is that too much?

As much as part of me objects to having my working time interrupted, I don't see how I can say no.

[That didn't sound very complimentary, but Edgar just had habits. Not necessarily good habits, but habits were hard to change.]

[Terra half-smiles at that. She doesn't expect such habits to change overnight, if it's possible at all.]

Good. It's not as though I would interrupt all the time.

[Just enough, from her point of view.]

[Probably not entirely.]

Perhaps we can place a restriction on it - say, no more than three times a week?

[She chews her lip, mulling this idea over.]

But if I do, you'll listen?

Barring any sort of actual emergency, yes, I will listen.

[He's never going to promise to not work during a crisis, though.]

[Well, that's different, of course. She relaxes a little and smiles again.]

Okay, good. And if there was an emergency, I wouldn't expect you to ignore it, anyway. I know better than that.

[And Edgar smiles, chuckling a little at that.]

I would expect you to, seeing as you're far from unintelligent.

[And then he leans in and kisses her cheek. Because it's there and clearly he must do so.]

[Of course, that brings out the blush instantly...that and something else.]

Edgar, I....

[And he of course notices this, not letting go of her hands.]

Yes?

I...um, told Celes.

[There's a pause, and then- a chuckle.]

And what did our favorite general have to say about the situation, then?

Well, she was...a little surprised, and then curious. She wanted to make sure I was okay with it.

[Probably so she wouldn't have to contemplate regicide.]

[Edgar is confident in his ability to keep himself from being killed by Celes. Mostly because he can Jump and she can't. And his smile widens at that.]

And are you, my dear?

[Terra isn't so sure--she knows what Celes can do, too. But she nods, a smile curing her lips.]

Yes, I am. I told you, if I wasn't, I would say so.

[And a chuckle, while he tightens his fingers on her hands briefly.]

Very well, then - that eases my conscience a little.

[And he leans in to kiss her cheek once more, but this time he lingers more than the previous attempt, as if he's thinking about moving just a little to complete the kiss.]

[Terra notices that, and peers at him curiously...and maybe leans in a little, so close....]

[And Edgar moves his head to just barely brush his lips against hers, lingering at the contact, before pulling away with a smile.]

As does that.

...oh.

[She likes that, and she doesn't particularly want it to stop there, so...she begins to return the favor.]

[Well he of course does not object to that, smiling a little into the kiss and pulling her closer. He won't lead this into heavy territory right away, but Terra clearly needs to make up for all the life and love she didn't get to have under the Empire, and he is not at all adverse to doing such.]
