[The Emperor is seated in a room which should be rather familiar to those who had seen Lufene's little pout-fest previously or in the case of one flower-bearing boy had actually been in the place first hand. His hair is no longer in the style it held before, the golden horns to either side of his head now revealed for any to see and while he's still in those mage robe's he wore previous, he now holds his usual golden staff, though the oak one is still nearby, leaning against the throne he's seated in. The man looks almost contemplative as he looks at the screen within the phone.]

Might someone explain just what Death means here?

For quite certainly I had managed to kill Firion a while back, but now he once again walks this world.

Does death hold no sway or is there something within this world which defies it and brings back those who have no desire to remain in Death's cold embrace?

[Utterly infuriated to see this man gloating about murdering someone he knows, Edward was honestly struggling to say anything to this fanciful monster. This must be the Emperor, the man which Rydia mentioned earlier.]

You...

[He glares at Mateus.]

You have no right to talk so callously about causing the death of another! If you are truly Firion's murderer, then you shall face judgment for your actions.

[He's not very impressed with you either, sparky!]

You are no emperor! You're merely another lunatic seeking for what cannot be obtained by force or bloodshed. People are not things to be tossed around for your amusement, and your subjects are not puppets!

Therefore, it wasn't the madman who killed the boy after all.

[The Marquis wasn't fond of exchanging words with someone as foul as this autocratic emperor, but he couldn't help but say something to the fiend.]

You do realize that you've merely condemned yourself by announcing such a crime so frivolously.

[It dawns on him suddenly that this is the fiend that the anonymous messenger warned the Council about weeks ago after Firion's public demise.]

I see...

You're the monster he mentioned.

You... you were the one that killed Firion? You just signed your own death warrant.

[Yuffie's not happy in the slightest.]

You'd be surprised at what I'm capable of. Of what the rest of us are capable of.

Don't you dare touch him.

Why would any of us want to answer your questions? You just admitted that you killed Firion. If I'd known that, I would never have told you about Pandaemonium.

You admit to cold-blooded murder in public!?

Does death mean so little to you!?

We do not tolerate such evil in Gaia! Those who take innocent lives will be executed!

[GLARE.]

How dare you. We won't let you touch him again!

[A frightened gasp, but there's anger laced in her trembling voice.]

How...? How can you say something like that so calmly, as though his life means nothing?

[Audio]

[identity profile] regal-innocence.livejournal.com 2010-11-11 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[No. No! Not everyone wanted to fight--there were truly good people here, who wanted peace. This wasn't like Ivalice, where everyone fought each other, grasped at everything to gain power...

Her voice kept trembling, uncertainty but definite anger becoming more apparent with each word:]

That is not true. There are many humans who feel the value of human life. Not all of us want to fight, want to kill.

Don't put us in the same category as you!

Should I assume they are not? You speak true; one should not judge by appearances...

You lie. More wish for harmony than you realize; what can one gain from war, from fighting? There are those who gain and revel in it, but I am certain that there are fewer of those than you say.

There must be.

And the natives are simply frightened. It is wrong for them to lash out, but in a state of great stress and duress, panic is expected. In time, things will calm. I am certain of that.

Death is not a mere word to be tossed around, your Highness. Surely, your will be the next to be purged from this world and to atone for your sins.

[He should have stabbed you when he had the chance, Emperor. Drain or no.]

You should not bother to ponder such things. Even if this world does return you to life, we will be there to kill you once again.
