[At first, it sounds like there's going to be nothing but a sort of ominous silence on the line, but after a moment Tseng speaks up. By the sound of things, he's not doing the best - his voice is hoarse with pain, and doesn't seem to be able to get a whole sentence out all at once, although he's doing the best he can.]

I regret to inform you that... Rufus is now a Lucavi. Until the situation can be reversed I'll... be taking over anything he might have been doing.

There's only so many men in suits with injuries like yours walking around that city~ We'll find you, just rest for now.

I... won't be walking. I'm at what was to serve as our base of operations.

[She meant that someone had to have seen you get to wherever you are now. Aerith shakes her head.]

What does it look like? I'm sure we can find it that way.

[This would be a description of ShinRa Manor. And, for good measure, which district it's in.]

We're on our way.

This must be it. I don't see anything else like it.

[Aerith glances at the building Tseng had described, or at least the one she assumes is his building. She turns to Zack, obviously questioning.]

Should we just walk in?

Well, if he looks anything like he sounds, he probably can't answer the door.

[So with a hand on the hilt of his sword, he approachs the door and opens it, sticking his head in.]

Anybody home?

[Aerith peeks in from behind him, taking the initiative to step inside. The building smelled different, but she ignored it as she moved into one of the halls.]

If he is here, the fight probably happened here. We'll have to try to find which room.

[She continued to move around, not too concerned about moving through a building where someone who had taken care of her for so long had been badly injured.]

[Well, isn't someone independent now. Zack takes a second to watch her and try to figure this out before he follows.]

That would be the logical thing to do.

Maybe this way?

[She pulled a door open into another hallway, disappointed when she didn't find anything.]

Hm. Did he say he was alone?

[Gonna climb the first flight of stairs.]

I don't think he would have accepted my help if anyone else were here.

[She follows, letting Zack lead the way up the stairs and into the next hall way.]

Yeah, that's true.

[And with Aerith close behind, he scans the hallway, noticing a mess at the other end. Something big happened there. Hand still on his sword, Zack jogs toward the open room and finds their target.]

Tseng!

[It didn't take Aerith long to catch up, turning to glance into the room.]

Tseng...

[And in she goes.]

[Tseng looks, to put it mildly, like he's been through hell and back, but he manages a brief nod all the same. Interestingly, there's surprisingly little blood. Whatever was done to him must have been largely non-physical.

Whether or not this is a good thing is anyone's guess.]

[Aerith settles in the room just in front of him, her expression serious and concerned all at once. She lifts a hand to check his temperature and for any breaks in the immediate limbs that she can see. Granted, he looks a bit better from the last time she had saw him on their own planet.

But at least this time she could do something about it.]

I'm not sure how much this will help, but I'm going to try.

[She stands up, moving a few feet back and holds out her princess guard horizontally against her right palm, head dipping in prayer.]

[Tseng really needs to get out of this habit. First Modeoheim, now here.

Zack looks around the room quickly, making sure they're safe, then kneels beside him.]

What happened?

[Your list is missing a few there, Zack. Not that Tseng will be mentioning it of course.]

It turns out Lucavi are rather hostile.

[...Oh right, Banora wasn't too pleasant, either.]

And Lucavi are...?

[Green began to glow about her slowly, her concentration hard won. The abilities didn't come quite as easily without her strong, trusting connection with the planet, but they did come. Once Aerith was sure she'd summoned enough strength for a cure spell, she twisted her hands so the staff pointed directly at Tseng.

A few murmured words later and the magic transferred from her staff to Tseng's body, giving him a light glow as it worked to heal the better part of of his damage. Aerith's arms lowered slowly, eyes still closed as she made a note to thank Gaia for the assistance. Anything at all to get it to trust her.]

[The spell doesn't get everything, but there's an almost breathless sigh of relief and he seems to be breathing a good deal easier.]

The explanation I was given called them demons.

[He keeps his eyes on Aerith as she works, ready to move in case something happens. Luckily, everything seems to be okay.]

Well, that's pleasant. Do we know how many are here?

Demons...?

[Aerith lifted her hand to her chin.]

He may not be a good person, but Rufus wasn't a demon. Did something happen?
