[Ring, ring, Tifa. She's got a quick question or two. ]

[you, too, Uncle Laguna. It'll be weird to see her number popping up, but that's because she's pretty far out in the fields right now, not near the village itself for the moment.]

[She's taking a little time away from duties and household things to think about going to see Rinoa. So she's currently sitting among the flowers outside the village. Anyone's welcome to come visit her and/or yell at her for being so far away.]

[So he made it this far.

He'd wanted to see Dali for himself, see what remained of the factory with his own probably-eyes and make sure that there really were no mages being produced here. And for that he'd left Alexandria and travelled up through the ice cavern. Now he couldn't go any further. He was just too scared to enter the village alone despite knowing that there wasn't really that much chance of being stuffed in another box.

He waited outside the village, unable to convince himself to go any further, and hid ineffectively behind a bush when someone approached, his hat poking out from behind it.]

[Elle didn't expect to meet anyone out here, so when she sees the hat, she's at first confused. She wonders if someone left it there and approaches to investigate.]

I wonder who left that hat there.

um.

[The owner of the hat peers up at her nervously from behind the bush with wide, yellow eyes.]

[She thinks she recognizes him somehow. Kneeling down, she smiles at him.]

You look familiar... I think I've seen you on the Sky Phones? My name is Ellone. You don't have to be afraid.

I- I think- you spoke to me while I was with Miss Penelo. um. H-hello!

Oh! Yes! I remember. [She pauses and tucks a chunk of hair behind her ear.] Do you need something out here?

Um, I- I was wanting to see the old factory.

The factory? [She pauses.] I don't think I've ever been. [another pause.] Is someone going with you?

I'm- I'm going on my own. [He stops to think]

...should I have someone with me?

[She shrugs.]

I don't know. I'm not that familiar with everything about the town. Sometimes it's just nice to walk with someone else. But I probably shouldn't leave the field for now. Uncle Laguna would get worried.

I- think I'll be okay on my own. I've been there before.

Okay. Well, if you need anything while you stay, you can let me know. I'll do what I can.

[Blink blink. Wat.]

Hey, Ellone. What's up? Where are you?

Um... I'm out in the fields. I haven't gone very far, but I... can I talk to you out here? Alone?

Uh, yeah, sure, sweetie. Gimme a few minutes and I'll be there soon!

[He hangs up and goes out. Fields are big but he manages to track Ellone and get to get.]

Hey.

[She doesn't look up until she can tell he's really close by. When she does look up, it's clear she's thinking seriously about something.]

Uncle Laguna... [She's not entirely sure how to begin this conversation, so she just stands up and looks across the fields.]

I think I need to go visit someone. A couple of people, really.

[Well, he didn't know why that caused some serious thinking.]

Well, sure. If you need to visit friends and all, I won't stop you.

Something on your mind?

Rinoa's going to be there.

[Which does and doesn't bother her.]

She... I asked to visit her.

Oh.

[Well, that explained it. He was still set on believing that Rinoa wasn't entirely in control, even if looking at her sometimes reminded him of the torture he saw.]

What for?

[She doesn't answer for a little, but then she shakes her head and turns to look at him.]

I don't know. I guess I just want to see for myself if it's really... her. I mean, we know how Ultimecia is, what she's capable of. I believe Rinoa...

[But it's still hard.]

She's in Luca right now and I wanted to tell you before I left so someone would know where and why I'm going, but I don't know if Raine would like it very much if I told her why.

Well, Rinoa will be with other people, right? I think if something were to happen, then you wouldn't be alone.

[He reaches out to pull Ellone to a hug]

Thanks for telling me. And you leave telling Raine to me, okay?

Right. I'll be visiting Tifa, too, so it won't be too bad if anything happens. And I don't... think it will. [But better to be safe than not.

She returns the hug fiercely. She definitely needed the reassurance.]

I was going to just tell her that I was visiting friends, but I wanted you to know. [She sighs.] Everything's suddenly so complicated.

I'm sure nothing will happen either.

[He squeezes tight and rubs her back before pulling away slightly to look at her face, still holding her close.]

Gaia always makes things complicated, it seems.

Yeah. [She nods.]

I'll let you know how it goes and when I'm coming back.

Tifa? It's Ellone again.

Hi. Hey, how are you doing?

I'm doing all right. The quiet's been nice. How are you guys? How's Marlene doing?

She's doing well. She was scared at first, but now Rinoa's agreed to help her, so I think she'll be all right.

Is that why you called?

Good. I'm glad.

Partially. Rinoa said she was going to be in Luca, so I thought that might be what she was doing. She and I are going to meet soon and I just wondered if you would mind if I dropped by to say hello to Marlene, too, while I'm here. Not for long, but at least to meet her.

Oh, that's fine! I'd like to meet you too, Ellone. I said I wanted to thank you in person for everything you've done.

It's really- [-not that big a deal.] All right. Thanks. I should be arriving in a few days. I just have to tell Uncle Laguna.
