-:- Video .o2 -:-
[The video starts, staring at what are obviously Aerith's feet, the grass of her yard and a few of the flowers in her garden. Since Aerith had called for a locksmith, she figured it would be a good idea to film said locksmith's handiwork. The conversation between the two of them had already begun by the time the video feed begins]
- he just hasn't answered his phone. Normally we wouldn't lock the door if we left since there's only one key, and I know he's a heavy sleeper, but do you really think he would sleep through all my knocking?
[The camera pans up toward the face of the locksmith-- Cloud Strife, his eyes focused on the door to Aerith's house even if it can't be seen behind his sunglasses.Cloud nods faintly, pushing a few spikes back and pushing up the sleeves of his black shirt, ready to get to work on getting Aerith in her house. ]
And you shouted to him too? Geez...
[He tries to shoulder in the door, grunting faintly at the effort it takes and how little the door is budging. He's not at all amused by the fact that he can't barge the door in.] What the hell kind of locks do you guys have? [He tries kicking it in. He knows Zack is always worried about Aerith being unsafe in their home but this is just crazy.]
Bolt locks, otherwise I would have just picked them myself. [She says it as if she's picked locks before, moving closer toward the door. Her hand came forward to press hard on it-- it was pretty obvious it wouldn't open.]
[Cloud grunts at the door like it just insulted him and tries kicking it again. There's a horrible cracking noise from the door but it doesn't seem willing to break in. Of course, with Cloud's temper he's not going to give up that easily.
He pulls out First Tsurugi and takes a few steps back.] Watch yourself. [And with that warning done and the camera itself moving away as Aerith does, he takes a deep breath and slashes at the air, the blade hitting the ground and sending a Blade Beam of blue light surging towards the door, blowing the thing in!
There is silence aside from the dust and debris that fills the area around them before Aerith is moving forward with her camera, carefully sidestepping pieces of wood to glance inside the house. If Zack was there, she was sure he was awake now. Upon further inspection, the camera stops on the living room-- completely destroyed from the blade beam attack, a mixture of wood splinters and cushion fluff.
Cloud looks utterly dumbfounded, as if he thought his attack wouldn't just destroy her living room. Of course, being Cloud, nothing ever goes according to plan and he pulls his sunglasses off, looking dreadfully guilty for it all.]
... Cloud? I think that was a little too much... you destroyed the living ro--
Aerith... I'm so--
[A loud crack sounds, and a small squeak leaves her mouth as a piece of beam falls from the ceiling. Cloud snatches her arm and pulls her back, then the camera is turned on him again and he looks at her with huge puppy eyes.] I'm so sorry, Aerith... I didn't think it would do that much damage... I thought I was toning it down a little...
It's okay, you can fix a living room. At least it wasn't my flowers~ [It can be assumed she was smiling at him by the tone of her voice before she moves to lead them inside again, the camera viewing the damaged and undamaged parts of the house. She swipes the phone along, and the frown slowly forming on her face is hidden by the fact she's the one carrying the camera.]
But Zack....
[The camera turns to capture her face for a short second before she moves to hand it to Cloud, heading up the stairs to the only room she knew Zack's things would be in. Cloud follows after her, knowing exactly what thought she's having. Climbing the stairs behind her, the phone getting a nice, unintentional view of her backside, Cloud follows into the bedroom. Only a moment is needed to take in everything and it's obvious Zack is gone.]
Aerith... [He reaches out and pulls her close, shutting off the camera, not wanting anyone to see their intial upset over the situation.]

no subject
And unfortunately his default is to crack a joke.]
'Least ya got room fer a bay window if ya wanted one.
[Voice]
Or just a whole new living room~
[The usual mirth that would be in her words is lacking, but she doesn't sound as devastated as she was before. It's slowly becoming a reality to her that people will come and go.]
[Voice]
[Cloud doesn't sound happy.] Feel like helping me rebuild it?
[Voice]
[Cid really couldn't help teasing Cloud.]
[Voice]
[Voice]
The door is open, you got what you wanted.
[Voice]
[Voice]
[Voice]
I figure we just get Marlene's construction glue and stick it together with a mixture of glue and determination? [See how bad Cloud's jokes are?]
[Voice]
[Cid snaps a hand up to his mouth, horribly stifling a laugh.]
Looks like I ain't gonna be just teachin' ya how ta build a house.
[.... he's not teasing so much this time.]
[Voice]
[action]
I've lost count how many times he's been and gone now... [Sigh.]
[action]
Instead, she settled her forehead against his shoulder, letting her eyes close, and remained silent for a long time.]
I wish I knew why we came and went at all.
[action]
[He sighs and nuzzles his nose against the top of her head. He's glad they have the chance to just console each other like this. Even with how close Zack got to other people, they would always be closer to him than anyone else.]
I'm really sorry about your living room. We'll get it fixed. [Even if he's a little too worried about Firion to think about building work.]
[action]
[And really, that was all it was. A room. Not a person she loved. Some things just didn't matter as much as others. Living knowing that people could disappear at any time was like living knowing the next was your last.]
I can live with a hole in my wall. I can't live with my friends appearing and disappearing at the whims of someone I don't even know. I can't live with the voices I hear from Gaia of those parts of you and everyone else that have died along with you here and can't merge with this planet-- I can't live hearing that eternal pain.
[Her hold tightens, eyes closing far tighter as if to hold back tears she couldn't shed.]
When you left before, Zack left too-- this isn't the first time. How can any of us live and reform our lives here if we never know if we'll see the people we rely on when wake up?
[action]
After... after losing Zack and you on our Planet... and then getting sick with the Stigma... I learned that you have to live each day. Don't worry about tomorrow because we might not wake up tomorrow.
It's a nice thought to live by... even if it's a bit crazy. If we've got each other, we'll make it through.
[action]
[It just didn't make it any easier. But they had been through so many other things before, why should this be any different? Aerith pulled back a bit, giving him the best smile she could.]
I shouldn't feel bad for myself, right~? The rest of us have always come back. He will too.
[She pauses for a moment.]
Are you okay, Cloud? I know Zack was just as important to you.
[action]
I'm alright. I know he's safe at home.
[Another squeeze and he kisses her forehead.] We'll be alright, if we just wait for him.
[action]
The forehead kiss was a bit surprising, but not something unwelcome-- a familial familiarity that was comforting only because it was Cloud, who she trusted.]
Just promise me you won't go anywhere in the mean time and I think we'll make it~
[action]
I promise, Aerith. [And he holds her just that bit tighter.]
[action]
Good. I promise, too. Whatever it takes, I'll make sure I stay here.
[Aerith's voice sounds a little defeated.]
I guess Gaia lets some of us come, and then takes some of us away.
It does seem that way, doesn't it? Never a full house...
No, don't be sorry. I'll be okay. Maybe there's a reason why things like this happen... and in the end, we all want to go home, right?
Yeah. Some day, we'll all go home.
[But she'll never see Zack again back home. Or Aerith.]
I don't think death is forever, Tifa. We'll still be with you. And one day, we'll all be together again. I don't think that bonds like that can be broken so easily.
I believe you. You and Zack will see each other again too.
[There's a pause as she looks concerned.]
But you know, Aerith... If you need some company, I'm here.
Thank you, Tifa.
We need to go do something together, Tifa. Go somewhere and have a girls day out~
[video]
Lets plan to do it soon.
What's your idea~?
