Oh, we're alright. Little weird...can't stand this place.
[Zidane glances at Vayne then walks off a few steps, not far enough awya not to be heard, just enough so he felt like he wasn't standing near the man.]
I'm not sure we can get hurt, just...shook up, you know? Plus some of the memories weren't so bad. Course...some of 'em weren't memories...
[A pause. She's making sure Cloud and Seifer haven't gone off without her] So... you experienced that as well? It seemed so strange... But you're right, they weren't all memories.
. . . [there's hesitation] I saw, a house on a cliff, overlooking the ocean. And there were lots of people. Everyone, all of our friends. Even the people I know, who aren't from Gaia. It was... someone's birthday. And there were kids, everywhere. And you and I...
Hey, that sounds pretty nice, actually. 'Course, we'd have to get away from the castle and all.
[He doesn't press her on the last bit, though it's obvious, and it causes him to glance over at Vayne. He barely manages to avoid saying something about her telling the man.]
[Vayne hasn't gotten where he is without having learned the fine art of paying attention. He's been subtly paying attention to the conversation, while appearing otherwise engaged. The comment about away from the castle piques his attention further. Is this that coward of Garnet's? How droll.]
It was, really! Okay, except it was an airship not a cabin, a huge one, like a house-airship I guess. Bigger than the theater ship, right? Except it wasn't lots of people, just us and...us.
[He frowns. It suddenly occurs to him that they're discussing all of this within earshot of Vayne.]
We could probably talk about this once we're out of here.
[Well, he doesn't particularly want to, but he can always call her back later.]
Yeah, I guess. I'll see you soon, okay? Love you.
[He tugs the phone away from his ear a moment later and turns, half-tossing it to Vayne. He almost hangs up, but manages to resist at the last second.]
[Phone is caught, and from all outward appearances, you'd never guess that he's pretty much heard every word on this end.
He's not particularly amused now, especially since he suspects something is up.
No matter. The interloper can be easily removed. Even if Garnet is fond of him, she'll recover in time. He'd worked too hard to have it all for naught because of some flippant actor.]
Quite the gentleman your thespian friend is, my dear.
'Gentleman'? [you can tell she's smiling now] I take it he's been on his good behavior. [it's a joke, and you can tell she doesn't quiiite believe Vayne's statement]
Is there any reason he wouldn't be? I believe I shall take this opportunity to know him better, as anyone who is important to you is important to me also.
Zidane is a very good person... but sometimes his manners might be a little lacking. [Is that affection in her voice? Oh yes.]
[And then, a pause. She grows serious] Vayne, once this is over, there are some important matters I need to discus with you. Among these matters... your friend, Dr. Cidolfus. I'm not sure if you're aware of some of his particularly unethical behavior.

[He grinned then, and it's fairly evident in his voice.]
Remember when I surprised you during the play? Changing the line and under the cloak and all that? I got to do that again, that was pretty awesome.

[A pause] Do you think... those things that weren't memories... could they be something else? Could we be seeing the future?
no subject
What? No way. Nobody knows the future, Dagger. Not even this crazy place. Garland was powerful, but he wasn't anything like that.
[He frowns.] You were right about him, by the way.
no subject
--Wait. What do you mean I was right about him? --Zidane, what happened?

[He shook his head.]
We can talk about it later. What did you see? [Yes, he picked up on her disappointment. He's good at that.]

...What else did you see? [This really isn't the time, bust, she wants to know anyway]

Besides, you didn't answer me when I asked. Fair is fair.
no subject
Mm. Nevermind.

Mine was kinda like that. Similar. Sort of.

Of course, I am willing to discuss anything you deem important, my dear. I must say, I am not informed of this issue you speak of. Pray enlighten me?
