Eventually she moves her hand enough to show who's the victims of the mishap. Raine and Laguna, who is holding a rather adorable piglet in his hands.]

Laguna, what is that? [Sternface forever.]

This guy? [Laughs.] Come on, Raine, you know what a pig looks like!

I know it's a pig. Why is it here? [Not winning points here honey.]

Because... he needed a home? [Hopeful smile.] He seemed so lonely, and I thought, you know... we've got the room, and he could hang out with Ward.

[Arms fold over her chest.] No. Take it back where you got it from. We have enough living creatures to take care of around here already. Starting with you.

But we have a farmhouse! Isn't having animals part of the fun? You won't have to do anything for him, I'll take care of him, like all the others. Wait -- what do you mean, starting with me? I'm not a creature!

We have enough mouths to feed around here without you bringing home a new animal every time I blink. [Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh... oh wait, child standing there with phone.] Slai, what is it honey? Did you need something?

But the goat eats garbage, it's economical-- hey, Slai. Is that my phone? ... hey, nevermind, what do you think about having a pet pig, huh?

The goat eats my garden! You promised you'd get it under control! And don't change the subject! We're not keeping the pig.

I built him a fence! It just... needs to be taller. I didn't realize he could jump that high...

[Slai finally interjects softly:] Can I keep the piggie?

...how many animals do you have there already?

Not that many! Let's see... there's Kiros -- that's the horse -- and Ward. He's the goat. The cow still needs a name, and we've got a couple of chickens, and now Rusty!

That's quite a collection! Is it a lot of work, taking care of them all?

Just gotta feed them, and clean up after 'em a little bit! The cow kind of feeds itself, since it likes to graze. It's not so bad!

Your wife doesn't sound too happy, though....

She might come around... if she's really unhappy, I'll find them new homes, but I think she might really fall in love with a couple of them.

Especially the piglet. It really is adorable.

He might be my new favorite! But we won't tell Ward that just yet.

[Chuckle.]

Maybe they'll become friends.

I hope so! I figured he had to be getting lonely, he and the piglet can hang out in the same pen!

Then it works out well! And your little girl can play with them both.

Yeah! Slai took a shine to Rusty right away. Brooke will like them, too, but she's too little to play with much of anything right now. I'll take her out to pet them in the morning, though, I bet she'd love that.

I think so, too. Growing up with animal companions all around sounds like a wonderful childhood.

[At least, so she's guessing. If she could have chosen for herself? Chocobos and kittens and moogle buddies to play tag with....]

That's what I think! I had a dog when I was a kid, but that's about it. A pet's important, I think.

I didn't have any, but now I'm making up for that.

[Cuddling animals makes everything better.]
