[The video turns on to show Zephyr. The little dragon is getting much bigger now. At just about three months old, she's starting to become a little too big for Kain to carry, more like a dog-sized dragon now than a puppy. She's currently hunched back and eyeing something above her. Kain can be heard speaking as he holds the device.]

Come on... I know you can do it again... I want a record of your early progress.

[As he waits, the dragon keeps sitting there, waiting... and then with a sudden flutter of wings, takes off into the air with the view following her. It's a short attempt, more a glide than true flight, but when she lands Zephyr has a bird caught in her mouth. She goes to work chomping on her prey.]

That was excellent, Zephyr. I'm very proud of you. [There's a sound as Kain does something with the device. Little does he know he hasn't turned it off- he's only turned the Video feature to Voice.] I only hope you will return with me, when the time comes. I don't know what I'd do without you...

Because, it must be wonderful for flying to be natural. I'm afraid of it, myself.

Afraid of flying? [Kain sounds like he can't imagine such a concept, but then being in the sky is completely natural to him. Being a dragoon AND growing up in Baron, airship capital of the world, will do that.] You travel on airships, don't you?

Only because there's no other choice. It's not as bad when Vaan's flying; I trust him. But it scares me every time.

[Yes it's strange that she's technically a Sky Pirate by virtue of being the navigator and partner for one, but she's flat terrified of flying.]

I never realized. I couldn't imagine fearing to fly... I always feel more comfortable in the air than on land, whether I'm jumping or in an airship.

Then I'm jealous of you too. I feel safest on the ground.

It's not so bad up there. Flight... is the most liberating sensation in the world. When Zephyr is grown enough, I plan to see if she'll allow me the honor of riding her.

Is that possible? And aren't you afraid of falling?

I'm afraid of nothing while airborne. Besides, it's safer to ride a dragon than an airship, provided the dragon is trained for such a thing. I would trust Zephyr entirely.

You're braver than me, by far.

I've never been afraid of the sky. Perhaps one day when she's grown enough and accustomed to it, Zephyr can prove to you how safe it will be with her.

[For all the stern glares, foot stomps and major scoldings, Penelo's fear manifests quite visibly. In fact, she turns pale enough to make one wonder if she's just about to faint. She reaches for a solid surface to steady herself, because the idea of being that much out in the open air is more than she can handle. ~~Enjoy having the upper hand on this one, Kain~~~

Still, she realizes it'd be very rude to decline and possibly offend her friend if she verbalizes the flood of doubts she's harboring. Penelo nods weakly.]

S-sure. I trust you.

[Kain is pleased that she's at least willing. The sky and flying through it mean a lot to him, so he's glad for her willingness to try it despite her fear...]

I'll hold you to it, when such a day arrives. I mean, if... [Sighs a little. They don't even know if they'll see each other again after the Terra team is done.]

[She understands what that means all too well.]

When, not if. There has to be a way.

[Sighs.] I have a terrible feeling about this.

But... Ivalice has nothing for me now. Nothing like what I've found here. I guess that's selfish though.

If there were only some choice... but it doesn't seem so.

I don't think it's selfish, to want to remain where your life has more purpose and meaning.
