Citizens of Gaia:

I, Regent Cid of Lindblum, wish to send you all a message of hope. This past winter has been hard on everyone. We have experienced food shortages, monster invasions, unprovoked attacks, and only a few days ago, we were plunged into visions we most likely didn't want to see.

But through this turmoil, I am proud to say that the people of Gaia have remained strong. I am proud to serve people of such courage and fortitude. I promise you now, spring will come and we will work to ensure a prosperous future. We won't allow those who would destroy that future to run amok! The madman Kefka was recently sighted in Lindblum. To ensure the safety of all citizens, I am increasing the number of knights patrolling the streets, as well as introducing automated defenders known as rooks to protect us all. He won't set foot here again, you can be sure of that.

Rest assured that I and other heads of state are working to set things right. No-one can know exactly what lies ahead, but we can be ready for it.

Well, I had simply intended to check in with you all and see how you were faring. I would still like to hear such news - Lady Ashe, congratulations on your lovely baby! But I hear that Figaro has been claimed by another? - but we have far graver matters to discuss.

First, Kefka. I'm afraid to say that he is actually the least of our worries now. But the scoundrel just appeared in Lindblum and it's about time that he was stopped for good. Lord Vayne has been kind enough to provide us with weapons, the rooks I spoke of, to defend our borders, and I think they could be used to defeat this clown too.

Second, Kuja has once more appeared in Gaia. Don't be fooled by his manner; his only goal is to bring chaos to Gaia. The last time he was here, he masterminded the destruction of all three realms of the Mist Continent. We still haven't fully recovered from that. We mustn't allow him to gain any influence again.

Third, Memoria. I believe that the fact we were all transported to that place has terrible implications for Gaia. I won't say more until I have more information, but it may be the reason that any of you Sky People are here.

Is it true that Garland has returned? Zidane, I want to know everything that he said to you. Cloud, you spoke of encountering Garland before. What can you tell us about him? His aims? His powers? Did he bring us to Memoria? Why? We need to put our heads together to work this out.

Your Excellency, it is good to hear from you again but it seems grievous news is all to be had. Our failing to deal with Kefka is mistakes that shall not repeated for a second time but as you have said; there is a new villain amongst us who warrants our full attention.

I send nothing but good fortune for Lord Vayne’s courageous endeavor in dealing with both that fool mage and pirates that plunder Wutai. With his prompt actions thus forth, we may be able to deter that ardent away.

As for this new villain amongst scoundrels, I for one will lend whatever I can to thwart his efforts not on the behalf of my people in Ivalice but on the behalf of the Gaians instead. This land is plagued with too much instability caused by appearance of random rogues.

I feel as if it my duty to lend my assistance, Regent Fabool.

I shall do what I am able, of course.

Ah, perhaps not. My apologies, Regent; I have been traveling and it seems I ought to stop early, lest I continue to forget such things! I am Al-Cid Margrace, of Rozarria in Ivalice.

I know what the rooks are, Regent; they were recently involved in my kidnapping and subsequent experimentation. I trust you will forgive me for my... misgivings about their use, and the man who developed them.

Quite fine to be honest, Your Excellency. I have taken a mild fondness for Narshe despite the dreadful weather.

This much I can see given the events that has transpired as of late. While I am, certain this does not need to be said, acting with haste against Kefka's lunacy is the only way to deal with him. Lindblum shan't suffer the same fate as Wutai as long as your kingdom stands strong against this menace.

However, I must inquire as to who this Kuja is. Stating him as the perpetrator of crimes in the past has earned my interest and I am certain I am not the only who is curious about him.

Never mind. It's good to meet you, Al-Cid! That's a rather fine name you have there, if I do say so myself.

Could I ask what help you would be able to offer?

Kidnapping and experimentation? What happened?

And the same to you, of course. 'Cid' does seem to be quite popular, does it not?

My specialty has always been the gathering of information, but I will do whatever is needed. I confess, I have taken an interest in Gaia's chocobos as of late, and am looking in to the training and perhaps breeding of the noble creatures. They may not be mechanized, but they are swift, and the proper rider can do quite a bit.

Kuja... It's a long story. We first heard of him as a weapons dealer. But as for his real identity... He is a Genome, created only to cause chaos in Gaia. He believed himself to be immortal and when he found out that he would eventually die, he turned completely insane and tried to destroy everything.

It does. Makes me feel rather common, haha.

Information gathering, I could certainly use that. Perhaps you might overhear things that the moogles do not.

The scientist Dr. Cidolfus Demen Bunansa 'happened'.

He used his fine words to lure me into meeting with him in Wutai, and used the rooks to capture me. While I was there, I was experimented on with a thing called nethicite. I am not the first who has been subjected to this, though I do not know if any others have undergone the same in Gaia.

I was released from the estate as my friends arrived to rescue me, but the effects of the experiments very nearly cost me my life. Queen Garnet can attest to this, if my word and that of other 'Sky People' is not enough.

I shall see what I can do, though I make no promises. My birds tell me many things, but I have few here.

A weapons dealer who turned out to be wicked and twisted soul? He certainly sounds as devious as Kefka but I assume there are differences between the two fools.

Was this Kuja defeated by your hands, Regent?

That's terrible! I'll speak to Garnet about this, you can be certain of that. Why would Dr Bunansa want to experiment on you?

Ah, no. Zidane and his party defeated Kuja. My airship fleet simply got them there.

He has no regard for those who are not human. But then, if his mutterings while he worked are to be believed, he has done similar things to humans on his own world.

But of course, Regent. Native or otherwise, all deserve peace; we must simply find a way to bring it to them.

Does Vayne know of this?

I am uncertain about that. But from what I have heard from the others from Ivalice, he knows of the man's... tendencies. And it was at Vayne's estate that I was held. Whether he knows or not, it is his job to. If he does nothing, even if he did not know and was simply informed, then I would not trust him as many seem to.

Wutai is from my world, Regent, and one of my friends, the princess. I am sure Vayne has done good things for it, from what I was able to see before my captivity, but I have seen people and governments do good things that are actually the means to evil. Sometimes it is even evil that they are unaware of.
