Denzel? Shelke? Are you guys okay?

I'm in a place called Memoria... If you can call it a place. But I don't think I'm the only one. It doesn't seem to be dangerous exactly, but I want to know if everyone is safe. Eiko seemed to think that all this is the doing of some guy called Garland. So has this kind of thing happened before?

For a moment there, I thought I'd been dunked in the Lifestream...

There's a difference between protection and what you're doing, Tifa. Shelke is a trained soldier. You don't think she was insulted when you didn't think she could handle coming to help me? The same with Eiko. She's a summoner, Tifa; neither of them are exactly defenseless. They may look like children, but even I am just a teenager with my own kind.

Your worry is crippling you. It has been for some time. You can't protect them from everything, and even if you can... you're alienating them, yourself, and the rest of us.

You want us to be careful. Let me advise the same to you. Focus on getting through this; you can't do anything else for now.

No child should have to go through this, Red. No child should be a trained soldier. What happened to Shelke and Eiko forced them to grow up so young. I was the same.

I'd hoped the next generation would be different. I don't know.

The next generation still has a chance. But you can't undo what has been done to them. They are who they are because of what has happened. By trying to deny that, you're trying to change them.
